Upgrading to windowblinds 5
Tuesday, November 22, 2005 by LIBBY | Discussion: WindowBlinds
Since it is a big change, are we going to have to uninstall Previous version first and then do a fresh install of wb5? or just apply wb5 to the existing version we have already installed.

The new official release of SDC 2.20.357 now recognizes a previous version, and both requires and performs the uninstall of said previous version.
So it would seem that uninstalling 4.6 will at least be required.

| Where do I force this 'rebuild list' ? |
There is a list of buttons in the middle of the WindowBlinds Config:
[Add skin] [Delete skin] [Rebuild list] [Advanced]
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That one

EDITED: "DNS" to "DSN"
Just tried it again and it's looking for "data sources" to point to, of which I have no earthly idea where to look. Says it has to have the "ODBC" data source. Did search on "ODBC and found a folder in Common Files with that name. Opened it and there's a folder named "Data Sources" but there's nothing in it.
BTW, the WB skin I had assigned before the upgrade is active, but I can't "Rebuild List" or "Add New," and the list consists of only two blinds; Classic and XP. Can't install new skins without the DSN window stopping the process. Really need some help here please.

| Is WB5 only valid for WinXP? |
Einstein,
The answer is yes, WB5 requires Windows XP.

BlueStringer,
There were some users who have had issues in the beta versions of WB5 similar to yours.
Here is a link to a thread discussing the issue, and a fix in comment #14 for one user https://www.wincustomize.com/articles.aspx?AID=88885&c=1#729361
I would suggest that you create a new post in the Stardock Support forum (two sections below this one) - include the text from the "System Information" (found in the lower left corner of the WB config panel), and an explanation of your issue.
I know that official support personell are currently monitoring that section for issues with the new release, and would be your best bet to get an official answer - unless of course you want to edit the registry, etc. - which is indicated in comment #14 in the above link.
