WindowBlinds
5 arrives next Tuesday, November 29th! Here are the key details:
- Will support Windows XP (both 32bit and 64bit)
- Windows 2000, ME, 98 users will have to stay with WindowBlinds 4.6 because the new performance features are only available on XP and those performance features make possible the new per-pixel glass effects.
- It will be available on its own for $19.95 or as part of Object Desktop for $49.95.
- Users who purchased WindowBlinds 4 after September get WindowBlinds 5 for free.
- Other WindowBlinds 4 users will be able to upgrade for $15. WindowBlinds 4 came out in 2003, so the typical WindowBlinds customer has received over a year and a half of free updates (that's why they have an upgrade path and users who just got WindowBlinds automatically get WindowBlinds 5).
- A shareware version of WindowBlinds 5 will be available on Tuesday.

I must say that I've enjoyed using the beta versions of WB5 and look forwards to next Tuesday's (Wednesday here) full version release.

| I'm confused. I've been paying for an OD subscription for 3 years now. Now they want to charge me again for the update? The reason why it's a subscription is because it updates periodical. I didn't buy Windowblinds 4, I bought the subscription to the program. Or is this update only payware for people that just bought Windowblinds? |
If you have Object Desktop and a current subscription then you will receive WB5 at no cost. If you're subscription isn't current you will either need to renew your OD sub to get WB5 or purchase the stand alone program after Tuesday Nov. 29 to get WB5.

Sorry if this sounds dumb.
I'm running WB5 (Beta 2) on IBM ThinkPad T40 notebook and cannot get the glass effect working (guess the embedded ATI Radeon chip doesn't support the per-pixel feature).
Would the formal WB5 release solve this issue?
Many thanks,
