WinCustomize Subscription

Monday, November 21, 2005 by WiseyDOLD | Discussion: Community

I started out with Object desktop liked it and then got Wincustomize browser with 2 year subscription. When I purchased my WinCustomize Subscription back in November of 2004 it was a 2 year Subscription. However now I'm getting emails from them stating subscription is expiring. I emailed them back stating that it was a 2 year subscription, and shouldn't be over for another year,? But now they are saying the initial subscription is one year and only renewals are 2 year? This is not what was advertised last year or what I was told when I signed up? I've also done a search on Google for WinCustomize Subscriptions and found all mentions of it from last year are making reference to a 2 year subscription for $19.95. Even Wikipedia makes refs to a 2 year subscription. Majorgeeks makes refs to it being a 2 year subscription, and I'm absolutely positive I signed up for a 2 year subscription as well. Can somebody please tell me what is going on here?

You did sign up for a 2 year subscription.
Of course, this should read "You may have signed up for a 2 years subscription." since I cant be positive about that.

Yes, Email

If it said 2 when you purchased, they should honor it:Link

Yes but all the receipt says is when I paid and how much. Nothing about how long the subscription was for. I've found countless websites that make refs to wincustomize and $19.95 for the 2 year subscription. Has this subscription changed after I ordered it and if so shouldnt my subscription still be valid? Even used an archive site to look at old webpages and found one from wincustomize itself showing a ad from around the time I signed up, for 2 year subscription for $19.95? Somebody here must know if they changed the subscriptions? I know I signed up for a 2 year subscription, don't even know why I have to try and prove it to them? They should know this?

The first subscription is for 1 year and when you renew it will be for the 2 years!

I'm guessing a lot of the subscription info is automated. Once the system has been set to 1 yr on initial & 2 on renewal, then it cascades out. Any deviation would have to be fixed manually. Then, they would need to know when you purchased so they can compare with the change over date (hopefully taking extenuating circumstances into account).

just guessing

I too think that is the deal.

Originally it was 2 years .... this was changed at some point in time.

A few years ago (almost 2 years ago) it was 2 years.  But, it hasn't been that way in quite some time.  Please remember that Wiki and other places are not written by Stardock employees (typically), so they are not the de facto answer.

The way our system works is not how Bichur assumes.  Basically, when an order is processed, it sets the expiration date in the customer record for whatever term is valid for the sale.  If we change the subscription length at a later date for the product, it has no effect on the previous sales.

Please email [email protected], though and I'm sure they get things worked out for you.

Its salsedock that sent me an email notifying me it was about to expire that sparked this all? This is why I'm on here asking to see if there is anybody else having the same issue? Or if they changed the suscriptions shortly after I signed up.

I don't know what else to say? I know when I signed up it was for a 2 year subscription? I didn't just pull this out of a hat? Oh well, guess there will be one less paying member.

Citizen WiseyD  again, refer to Karmagirl's post. [#11]

She says to contact [email protected]  for good reason.  She works at Stardock.

You won't get better feedback or advice than what she gave....
