Texas sues Sony BMG over music protection software

Reuters reports that Texas' attorney general has filed suite against sony for its controvesial root protection software. This is going to open up a whole can of worms...

it's only what they deserve...sony, in this instance, are no better than virus-writers..their EULA contained no warning of the malicious software they installed on your PC....they are no better than the people they want to stop...they haven't apologised and their un-install routine could leave your CD drive disabled...big money company at it's worst

and now it looks like the EFF are filing a class action suit against sony too

if you are unsure what all the fuss is about with sony and the 'rootkit' issue, you should read the following link from the BBC. it explains clearly why people are so upset about this...

it is an issue that should concern you, because this is only the beginning....i fully agree to trying to protect artists rights, but not to the extent that the 'protection' seriously harms our rights as the consumer
