That is way WAY WAY too many simulatirites. When they said the same person running the marketing was the same person who ran it for Sega I stopped reading for a good minute trying to take it all in.
I still am getting the XBOX over the PS3 because the PS3 is just too expensive and wants to be everything AND a gaming system when all I want it a gaming system with some extra features.
So Microsoft gave up on Blu-Ray (or was it HD-DVD? I can't remember now)?
Did you guys look at simularity number 9?
I still think the XBOX will be better... mostly because Microsoft is putting billions into it and the gamins system is part of it multimedia plan (like plugging into XP Media OS and using WMP music files and codec)
Plus, the online features were very successful and the games they have for it are pretty good (not that Dreamcast didn't have good games... or did it? I can't remember... too busy playing on the Playstation to notice).
On page 2 (why the XBOX will last) the biggest most important differences are #1-4 (4 in piticular), 7 and 10.
#7 playing the biggest role... Halo 3? Its like people waiting for a movie blockbuster. If you think people buy iPods that cost 300 USD because its cool, they will buy a 300 USD gaming system to get Halo and some other games that are already classics out the gate. Final Fantasy? EA Sports? Project Gotham? OnLine Play? Intergration with Windows XP and even Windows VS?????
The PlayStation has allot of worry days ahead of it.
500 dollars for a gaming system... no exuse me... an entertainment system? Puh-leese. Sony (I'll bet a million pennies) will sell the PS3 for the same price as the XBOX with major losses per machine instead of selling it for 500.
PS3 is the better gaming system overall, but lets focus on gaming first. Look at what XBOX is doing. Gaming first, other stuff second.

As to the PS3, who knows how much its going to cost? You can't base whether or not you will buy it because of that! No-one knows. Not a hope in hell of 360 'crushing' PS3. It will definitely be far more competition than the XBOX ever was but I still believe it will lose out this generation, if only marginally.
Nintendo may yet suprise us also.

LOL
XBOX will be the better gaming pltform because of its focus on gaming, not being an entire entertainment system like the PS3. You should read all the junk they are putting in it.
Now, I'll change my mind if they sell it for 300 or even 350... but 500? Your out of your mind. I on't need a TV tuner on my gamin system
LOL
What the heck is that about?
Playstations only hope is a lower price point OR letting the PS3 be a gaming system and let the PSP be the entertainment system... you see the PSP has more potential of having all the add-ons that they want to put on the PS3.
Put it on the PSP and let the PSP connect to the PS3. Now you have WiFi, FM Radiao... maybe even XM Satelite, and organizer, Yahoo or AIM IM systems, web browsing.
I see what they want to do, but the cost is too high and I don't think people are reay for a gaming systems that doe s all of that... but a portable.? been ready for that. Apple made the way clear, now all Sony has to do is make the PSP do it all except make phone calls... and it might do that too with Yahoo messenger on it (VOIP).
What do you think? PS3 need to drop all of that crap and focus on gaming?

I don't believe the PS3 price has been set yet. Also, do you believe the XBox 360 is just a "gaming system"?
| When combined with a Media Center enabled PC and a wireless connection, the Extender Kit lets Xbox owners easily transmit and access entertainment data stored on their PCs on the console. Users can browse, find, and listen to digital music (thanks to built-in Napster support), look at photos, watch TV and shows recorded on the PC, and access DVDs, utilizing the standard Windows Media Center user interface. In practice, this means one user can watch TV on the Media Center PC in the living room, while another watches a recorded movie using the Xbox Media Center Extender Kit in another room. Up to five different instances of the Media Center interface can run simultaneously. |
