like takeing words and arangeing them into a poem or takeing diferent colors and makeing them look like a sunset or the notes of a scale becomeing musical melody. when you can do this with out a set of plans, instructions or a guide you have become an artist.

My definition would have to be an expression. Whether it's with a drawing, writing, speech or action.

Incorrect. WinCustomize is a skinning site not an art site. Skins can be artistic of course but that doesn't mean good art makes a good skin (this all sounds familiar
).
If you want to upload art somewhere, there are other places you can go

So art is a matter of taste and moreover personal taste?
Yet isn't there anything recognized universally as art?Reply #31 Sunday, November 6, 2005 5:15 AM
Civilized Communication is ART
Ditto,it is a form of art to try and live one with another.

The rhythm of light and dark played in sequence across a canvas / screen.
This reminds me of the definition of scuplture by a professor of mine. The continuous game between light and shadow in order to give the aspect of depth.

In this spot was originally another post deleted? Basically, my comment was that my post stating:

Is to be regarded as some comical relief, and in a non-offensive manner. As we all know things can sometimes be taken the wrong way.
Just need to let the community know that so I'm not viewed incorrectly.Reply #34 Sunday, November 6, 2005 6:36 AM
There is no issue to worry about here and no harm done... it's just not a good idea to post e-mail contents on the messageboard
Back to art...

art relates to beauty or not?
not all the time .. sometimes art can be tragic... some of the greatest stories are tragic but yet considered art
romieo and juliet for example. IMO art is anything that take's you by the eyes or ears and leads your heart to places it normally only goes to in the sweetest of dreams

Art is whatever you find pleasing to the eye. It could be beautiful, or it could be ugly. If the patterns, shapes, colours, contrasts etc appeal, then you can call it art.
Art is more subjective than almost anything else. It is personal - only you know what you consider to be 'art'.
