Unfinished skins.

I thought it might be fun for some of us to share screenshots
of unfinished skins and perhaps offer eachother encouragment
to continue with them.

I'll start with this,

This was my prelim ss, I've done a bit more (actually alot more) to it since this. I've got a ways to go but hopefully if all goes as planned it should be done around the end of the month.

Question for Hippy....

In the skin with the purple flames, I noticed an effect you have going on there. I have seen it in some other skins like ^^Gabrile's FabreLink
and also in pictoratus' FabergeLink

I don't know what to call it, so out of ignorance, I will refer to ti as 'those little black dots'. It gives the skins a kind of 'hand drawn element' that I really like. It reminds of the Mobius 'Silver Surfer' magazines. (And Denzel was right, Morbius was the best)

Anyway, I was kind of wondering, and hoping, you might be willing to share what it is and how you accomplish it??? Please. I haven't been able to figure out how to duplicate it in Photoshop.

Thanks.

Citizen Noah99 - The effect looks like some edited noise. Filter > Noise. Sorry if that's not what you're after

And here's my sad collection of incomplete...

Scarebear is correct. You use the noise filter. It also is what a lot of people use for the brushed metal effect, which is produced using the noise filter, then a motion blur. Using a Guassian blur produces a nice texture too. Worth experimenting with.
