I heard that Google that is looking to buy something like 10% of the shares and not outright aquire it.  Guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

AIM is the chat portion of the AOl client. You can launch and join chatrooms (its been a while but i belive you can also join AOL chatrooms) and chat with AOL members.. but while you get the 'AOL Today' screen with news and sports and such, you still don't get a lot of Aol's content. Aol sells to uesrs who want to get all of their information and entertainment within Aol's park, without going all over the internet for an encyclopedia, sports news, entertainment, etc..

Interesting thing is that like most ISP's comcast has its own little park of content.. it may not be so centered and complete as AOL's but, that is why i think a comcast aquisition would benefit them. High speed internet requires you to be a bit more saavy.. (well you at least need to find your way to google) Aol doesn't require you to know anything at all to get your info. Comcast could improve on their buisness with our without offering broadband but, offering broadband aol from comcast networks could significantly boost the company. They could sell it as just that: the idiots internet.

i like the Beta products aol puts out for it's user to test before release - the aim beta they have, triton, is a lot nicer than the current aim (5.9) ~ and the aol explorer is nice too. i hardly use the main aol client anymore but still pay my fee, plus my aol email is still my main email. my parents pay for msn - i have a hotmail account, but usually refer to that as my spam account *the stuff never seems to disappear and it's the only one i have problems with*
