WB5 Extraction Problem

Thursday, October 6, 2005 by CaptainWin | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I have not seen this problem I am having posted. I have attempted several times to download and extract WB5 through Stardock Centratl. It downloads okay but during extraction/installation when it reaches 99 percent complete Stardock Central shuts down totally. When I restart it, it asks if I want to update to WB5. I click yes, and it begins to extract and install the files already downloaded, reaches 99 percent complete and SC shuts down. Anyone have any ideas?

Also make sure you have the very latest build of SDC installed.

Ok. I work second shift and just got back home. I tried again. This time it downloaded and extracted and installed WB5. Then it went into removing temporary files and at 90 percent of doing thie SC shut down. So, I went ahead and rebooted anyway as I read you had to do this. After reboot, WB5 does not load, and when I do it manually it does not apply any of the skins I have. I checked trouble shoot and get this message:

WindowBlinds 5 BETA Troubleshooting Report:

STATUS : WB+ SRV+ HLP+ UI+

WindowBlinds is not installed correctly on this PC. If you did not reboot after installing WindowBlinds 5 for the first time, then please reboot and try this again.

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

You have one monitor in total.

(Plug and Play Monitor) 1 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420
'NetMeeting driver' also exists as device '\\.\DISPLAYV1', but is not attached to the desktop and is a mirror driver.
'RDPDD Chained DD' also exists as device '\\.\DISPLAYV2', but is not attached to the desktop and is a mirror driver.

So, what now? Milksama, is their still a problem with my account or is it something else. As an aside....I can not uninstall WB5 to revert to WB4X unless I use Windows XP Home system restore.

Yes, same problem here. Downloads ok, install gets right to the end then Stardock Central closes completely and WB5 isn't installed.

I had the same problem until I made sure I had version 2.10.344, build 95 installed.

I have finally successfully downloaded and installed WB5! On a whim, even though my SDC said it was version 2.10.344, build 95, I went to Stardocks website and downloaded and installed SDC from there. It worked and I now have WB5! Just wanted to pass this along as it maybe the solution for others.

StevoFC: Your account information shows no subscription. Did you use another stardock.net username? (email [email protected] if you would like it to remain private)

ianxxx: I do not see any account problems. Please make sure you're running the latest version. Uninstall Stardock Central and then download again from https://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp

CaptainWin: Glad to hear everything's working! (FYI, no other account problems )
