in an attempt to upgrade to WB5.
1. installation encountered problems
2. ended up with win classic and was unable to change to any of these wonderful customized skins
3. how I hate to say this but, thank god for MS and "system restore"
please let me know when WB5 is out of "beta" stage AND I wish we were not being used as test subjects

You did not have to install the beta release. If you do not want to use betas please do not install them.
Your problem sounds like there was a problem with the install.

i should also tell you that a new version is out and it is working on my computer and i had the "classic" problem every body else had. just copy all the skins in the windowblind folder and move them to a folder on your desktop BEFORE you uninstall the program and go back and get the new program. its working good thanks to Neil's hard work. great job Neil!

so, are we saying that there is no problems with the new (beta) release. It is only I that have experienceing difficulties. I always thought that "beta" releases were for testers to put the program through its paces and fix bugs before releasing to the rest of us not-so-technically-inclined?
I also am not trying to rank on those individuals that put their hard work and time into creating "whatever". for the most part, "good work, fellas/gals"
AND PLEASE: don't lecture my on my choice to download a beta release or defend the release of a faulty program. this is reactive hindsight and serves no helpful purpose. we have all tried at some point a "beta" release of something and found out why it wasn't a good idea and we still continue to do so.

yes wimpy, they released wb5 beta 1b last night which fixes MANY of the issues with reverting to windows classic. oh and by the way you probably didn't have to do a system restore. you could have used stardock central to uninstall windowblinds 5 and reinstall wb 4.6.
betas are not for internal testers. it is released to find more bugs, narrow down the causes, and fix them quicker. stardock can only test windowblinds on a small variety of hardware/software combinations without hiring thousands of testers and buying thousands of different computer setups. so the beta is released for us to use, and report the problems back, which many people did, and the bug you are talking about was fixed within 24 hours. it's quite incredible, really. so d/l the newest version and enjoy.

No one said that...... I've had mucho problems installing the beta, but that's the nature of a ground-breaking beta.

You are correct, and the problems getting the program to install correctly on some machines is because of BUGS.

Don't whine about a beta causing problems, and you won't get a lecture.

Then why exactly are complaining? You already knew a beta might cause problems, even may not work at all..........

yes we are being used as test subjects because thats what useing a beta meens you are. there's just no other way around it.
a beta is not...
an early release for a privliged few.
a sneek peak of what is going to be released on a predetermind release date.
a beta is...
a prerelease stage to work out bugs on a large scale so it can be the best posable program it can be when it is a GENERAL RELEASE!~!
