Preview forum post

would it be possible to preview your forum post before submitting it? this seem to way on practically every other forum i've used..

i can see that this question was asked once before in march 2005, but there were no replies...

True most sites do have a preview option. I rarely use it especially if they also have an edit button which this has here. It wouldn't hurt to have it though I agree.

The problem with the edit button here, though, is that if your reply has very much code in it, you need an HTML degree to edit it, since it doesn't convert it back into BBCode for you.

If it's a busy thread, you might not be allowed to edit it, either.

i find it's always much easier to check my post in the format that it will appear in the forum, rather, as Tarkus points out, with all the code in the edit section, after i notice on the live post i have misspelt something....having a preview button wouldn't mean you have to use it, but as least those one or two fat-fingered speed typists like me could

But, edit button isn't enough. I really feel that this forum seriously needs an edit button.

I usually write in HTML format and this forum has some serious problems with HTML coding. Even it allows combination of HTML, BBcode, Plain text and that's the problem.

In 'Add your comment area' if you press Enter, it takes it as <BR/>. So, you cannot change line while writing HTML or don't write any <BR/> or <BR>, just make Enter. It also creates problems while you want to insert a picture and for this reason I was bound to delete my article on Yahoo.

So, for this forum, at least I think, preview tab is essential.

I'm an edit button abuser, never needed a preview button, but i might poke it with my cursor if i saw one.

I have come across some really nice scripts that turns normal textareas to rich text edit fields in IE and Firefox. And if the browser doesn't support it, it'll revert back to the plain text area.

That cannot be a replacement for 'Preview' button.

Yup i think edit button is just fine for the momment...but a preview window would be a nice idea for future...
