Turn of those memory eating processes!!!!

Saturday, September 24, 2005 by esg-designs | Discussion: Personal Computing

Easily identify what are the processes running on your PC. Just use this site to research the *.exe listed in your Task Manager.

This is SOOOO important its not even funny. I was looking for this but gave up after googling it, A9 searches, and yohooin it... yes I said yahooing it. What I like Yahoo.

Anyway, how many times have you wanted to knock out a process because it was taking too much memory or even virtual memory? The sran thing is eating up CPU cyles? Turn it off! (well at least find out if you CAN turn it off by using the link provided).

BlackViper.com used to have a good section on services as well but the site's been "under construction" for a couple months now.

I always thought so. Thanks for the useful tools and guides. I've had several occasions to use them. I hope you plan to update for Vista next year.

Easily identify what processes are running on your PC.

...and check to see if there are viruses lurking about.

I was looking at my cousins pc Sunday, and found myself inspecting his processes in Task Manager. If your system is like his, and has a process by the name of scvhost.exe (not to be confused with the legitimate svchost.exe), then you have been infected with the Backdoor.Sdbot.N trojan. Easy to remove - but some kind of protection (firewall/router/etc) couldve prevented it from happening.

(Wow, talk about timing! )
