Do you like Sci Fi?

Do you like Sci Fi? If so, what genre? Stories relating to planetary colonization? A.I.? Time Travel? The reason I ask is that after a discussion with a friend recently, we came to the conclusion that individuals (at least most of our friends) who are into computers are also into science fiction.
Personally, I like time travel, space travel, computer/robotic/a.i. stories. One of the best artificial intelligence stories I've EVER read is "The Two Faces of Tomorrow" by James P. Hogan. If you have a chance and run across it, give it a read. I think you'll really like it. And let's not forget Star Trek and Star Wars.

Watching some of these on my HDTV in DD 5.1 almost makes you feel like your right in the middle of the battle.

I'm a big Sci-Fi fan. While Asimov, Dick, Clarke, Vonnegut are all great, and I enjoy their work, I prefer newer stuff these days. Favorite authors include William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, Neal Stephenson, Nancy Kress, Greg Egan, and John Wright, who wrote the awesome Golden Age trilogy. Spider Robinson writes fantastic time travel stuff, and John Shirley...and...well, there's plenty of talent out there.
I've always enjoyed Sci-Fi tv and movies too, but nothing beats an epic book or series of books, IMO.

Harlan Ellison for one of the great early writers. Always had an odd take on things which I liked. One of his books made a pretty decent movie 'A Boy and his Dog'. He wrote the original stories for a lot of SciFi shows and movies.
Roger Zelazny was pretty good, although he tended a bit more toward fantasy.
I watch all the Star Treks and like them. Liked all the Star Wars movies.

Yep...3rd Rock, Mork & Mindy
on both of them. Robin Williams made M & M a must watch show...brilliant! Also the X Files...what a mish-mash of plots, sub-plots and twists and turns. Maybe it wasn't strictly sci.fi in its purest form, and maybe it wasn't filled with SFX, action, thrills and spills, but my seat was always booked well in advance for the next installment of the paranormal, covert govt dealings and subterfuge.

It was abducted! #39 was an attempted hijack to inject sci.fiction with too much 'reality' It will be probed to extract information and remove its memory before being returned in an unharmed but altered state.
