Anyone use Litestep?
because i have a problem

Hi, im new to the forums and am curious as to whether i can talk about other shells other then explorer. Ill ask the question, and if your allowed to, any responce would be nice ^^
Well i juss got a new laptop, and wanted it to be the same as my desktop, so i installed litestep, with the glaze mod. Everything seems to be going fine, but when i open a folder, any folder, the cpu usage spikes and my computer lags for a split second. Talked to my friend who also uses litestep, and this has never happened to him. Is there any reason why this would happen?

So what file manager can i use? On my desktop, i use ie as my file manager, and it doesn't spike up like that.

How is freecommander? My friend is usen the same as me, i pretty much got it from him, cuz i liked his laptop lyayout, so i asked him what it was.
But bak to freecommander, how is it? Does it crash a lot? Real buggy? Any big problems?

I haven't had any problems with it so far. It's dual pane and fairly customizable. There are better file managers out there but they run around $25-30 or more. check out the Desktop Enhancement section in the File Forum at Betanews for other alternatives.Link

Most of the alternative file managers go overkill on features and/or are in desperate need of an interface makeover. But since alternative shells and Explorer don't really like each other at times, it's best to use something different.
I'm currently using xplorer² lite, which offers just the necessary enhancements. Tabs, optional dual panes (I'm not too keen on dual panes, I rather use tabs or multiple windows) and it remembers your open folders, so you don't have to sift through the entire tree every time you fire it up. It has plenty of more advanced stuff, but I don't really need/use that. See: http://zabkat.com/

Here...it's ExplorerPlus, Powerdesk Pro 6, xplorer lite and Ztreewin .....I think 4's enough....

Probably...when you're opening a folder you are using Explorer.....the 'file manager'....and it's wanting to run explorer [the shell] as well.
Try an alternate file manager to handle those...and avoid explorer totally....
And yes...you can talk about alternate shells...
