Saturday, September 3, 2005 by Cavan1 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

When waiting for forum page to load to log in, have password save FF, page has to load, I have seen a banner ad for Smiley Central. When try to download McAfee AV warns as a Potentially Unwanted Program. Is it a safe app, and if not why is there a banner ad here.

Everytime I download it the anti-virus tells me that it is infected.

The virus programs are AVG and Avast.

If you go to the smiley central homepage and click download.. at least you get the warning box telling you that by doing so you are agreeing to also install a barrel full of other programs that are listed everywhere as unsafe, unwanted, intrusive, hazardous, and a general pain.

The only guess I could make is SC payed for advertising space??....
That site has been a known source of spyware, trojans etc,,etc,, for quite sometime..I think Ad-Aware even has it listed on their site as one of the places to avoid..
~sighs~ it is too bad..alot of great content is ruined by all of that junk...
