WB features?

Over the past few years, WB has gained (and lost) a bunch of features, are
either of the following still around?

I believe the explorer backgrounds are still there, they just haven't been used in a very long time. Windowblinds Basic Settings - backgrounds button.
As far as the transparency item, that ability has been lost but.....check out Kol's Kuantum skin. It (and a few others) will go completely transparent (button is on left). I've found this to be a little more "usable" than the earlier ability mainly because it works on all windows. Transparent menus are also fairly commom now, although they don't work well on all video cards.

Why are these features not around anymore, surely the explore backgrounds would make a lot of skins a little better?

Because they caused alot of flickering and the tranparency options where crude I'd think.
