Widget Script or IE problem

Tuesday, August 23, 2005 by Fairyy~ | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I'm not sure which is the best Catagory for this, so I'll put it in general .
Its not earth shattering but I hate when " things " won't work and I need to find out why.
In Widget section, Boxxi had new widget that looks really cool. But I couldnt get it to work at all. I waited to see if anyone else had a problem..noone has..
The Widget is :
LCDeep WC by BoXXi
(This Widget will let you check the newest skins
on Wincustomize, and the latest updates, and
the top downloads.
The script is by _Martin_, so thanks to him too.)

All I get is " Page not displayed " So I opened DesktopX and tried to import it through desktopX builder as an object , back to a Widget...usually this fixes certain Widgets. Desktop builder gave me a message that " This is not a desktopX package" Not a big deal..it must of been exported as a " Gadget" So it should have still fuctioned anyway.
I have cleared the " Widget Cache " I have checked internet settings. I have re-installed Firefox. I asked buzzh58 to check this for me. He d/loaded Boxxi's LDC Deep WC and it fuctioned just fine. So he made me one using martins script and made it strickly a widget. It still will not function. Now when I took his widget into DesktopX builder I got Message that object has script error ( See screen Shot below )

The only thing different in the past week that I did was the Windows update for service pack 1 ( the patch for the worm that was running amuck ) other than that..I'm clueless.
Anyone have any ideas on this ? PS: DesktopX version: 3.10.042

Fairyy - I took a look at Martin's control, and I believe your problem is probably due to not having an ActiveX control that he used - and I think it came with MS Office 98. It's the control that he used for the drop-down box in the object, and since that doesn't work, then the web object can't be set either.

The object's script could be changed to use the DesktopX drop-down control, which you would have (since it comes with DesktopX) or you could acquire and register the control that it needs now.

If you want to use the second option Email

me and I will try to hook you up.

Sir Bichur..that skin is a picture/wall frame widget that buzzh58 made for me thats actually 1280x1024 and its one of my favourites because of the 3 color combo's you get when you move hue slider. He used that widget and changed the dimensions to frame this widget. I've made several walls using this frame to outline small graphics i've found at various art sites that are too small to stretch into walls. This comes in handy..

I would be very grateful if you could help me out MD. Boxxi's Widget was the same way..no drop down box. But remember..im not all that smart when it gets technical. So directions starting with " turn the computer button to the ON position "

You referring to BoXXi's ? His worked...just not for me. That was the problem. Im missing an Active X Control. Thats why even the Widget buzzh58 made me like boxxi's still wouldnt work...he knew it was something in the script that isnt working for me. Mountain Dragon made me a modded version that works..for now..im happy just to know what the problem was.
