Apple releases "Mighty Mouse"

Finally!
The multibuttoned Mighty Mouse looks much like its predecessor single button mouse, with the addition of two side buttons and a scroll button. The major difference with this mouse over all others, is that it scrolls in all directions.

Oh, I had the honor of seeing a little preview today 
. My girlfriend bought one for her iMac today, and while her old/reliable mouse for it was fine, the "new" "Mighy Mouse" proved to be VERY unresponsive, she had to literally smash the pad with her hand to get to move as she wanted, and clicking? Oh no, today she believes she has been introduced to HAL's reincarnation, as once she clicked the mouse the first time, it stayed down, and was therefore only able to be used once for its maiden test. Ah, that mouse sure wasn't so mighty after it received one of her signature kiboshings....so way to go Apple, way to make such an "easy" and "innovative" mini punching-bag, my only regret is that the popcorn was not ready to watch the spectacle, but we shan't make that mistake again shall we 
?

Logitech, my preciousssssss.
Works even on Os systems and side scrolling is buggy if you are into games.

I was wondering if the scroll button was more like how the iPod selector works, that would be something worth condsidering, I think. Oh yeah, and I use the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 4.0 at work (wired) and the wireless version at home, love them both. Wireless Duracell batteries have lasted for about 4 or 5 months now, and I use the machine a lot.

Some of the extra buttons get to the point you don't know what to do, the 3 on the side I use for alt, ctrl, and shift. Those help me a lot in apps such as photoshop and the like, as well as moving files around. Others I often have such as tab, (alt+tab on the mouse can be handy) and combinations like Ctrl+m, things like that can be pretty versatile. The laser is just cool, I mean sure and optical is precise enough you can move your cursor 1 absolute pixel with ease, so getting more accurate doesn't really help a whole lot, seeing as how you can't move 1/10 of a pixel

Also because of its programmable buttons/cordless I use mine as a remote-control for my sound system/presentations and even as a TV remote sometimes(when I watch TV on my PC...which really isn't all too often sadly), haha, it really was a godsend for me, end of story.
And Horizon? Yeah it's a friggin' laser! Hook it up an amplifier/uber-battery and you've got yourself a full-blown deathray! And a mouse with a built-in deathray...well that's limitless!

I'm sure Apple has taken into consideration the value of each button, programmed or not, whether on top or the side, of their "Mighty Mouse," before releasing it. I do, however, think it's interesting that after only one click from Mnelsons' girlfriend, that she had difficulty getting it to work again. That's certainly not a piece of hardware I'd want to invest in. But, I can't imagine Apple sitting on it's laurels for too long if there are questions of the Mighty Mouse's quality, since quality is something they highly promote.
Besides looks, Apple has always promoted it's simplicity in operation as compared to the complexity/diversity of the operation of PC's. Thus, I can understand their direction in advertising this new mouse. It certainly attracts a larger audience.
So, does it boil down to money? Ultimately...YES!!

Oh ho! Nice article there. Well, the technology is very simple/old, yet clever at the same time, a good use of it I'll say. Though why all the wasted space? They could have reduced its size a bit in some areas to make some functions (like the side buttons) easier to use. Also a speaker 0_o??? What's with that? Is there going to be some voice function in the future so that you can move your cursor?
"Cursor! Move 304 pixels to the left at a 30 degree angle from the origin!" Seems a bit akward to me...
Well it's sensetivity is nice, but I don't see why you'd need that really, just use a normal optical mouse and you'd get the job done all the same (and for a cheaper price!). If the price was to go down a bit, and I had a Mac, I'd probably buy it, seems better than their other one-click mouse.
Also tjesterb, slick model you've got there, but I'm still partial to my MX1000, ah...my precccciousssssss
Though I'll admit I have to work on my OCD for it, its daily baths nearly short it out, but you know, I gotta keep it well-groomed.

anyway, richt clicking really isnt all that different from what they're used to. I'm sure all the right click function would do would be the equvilant of a control+click. big deal
that ball is pretty cool but I can't see how it works. looks kinda weird if you ask me. I would have personally used a touchpad scroll instead to conplete the eggshell look.
Oh and I think I know why it isn't wireless, because if it was, you wouldn't know which end to click (or just touch in this case)

For a company that always wants to have things simpler, I don't understand why they are trying to make it actually harder. Why two buttons hidden under an apparent single button? Why not just simply put two buttons? And why two side buttons have to be "squeezed" instead of just one button clicked? How is all this supposed to be easier? I just don't get this company. I guess it's all about being different even if it doesn't make sense.
