One Sentence Request to Microsoft

Respond here

Monday, July 18, 2005 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

If you were able to have a private meeting with Bill Gates and able to request ONE thing that had to be expressed in a single 25 word statement to be added/changed/fixed for Longhorn, what would it be?

Mr. Gates, you make the most underestimated 10th best HARDWARE worldwide nobody really
uses professionally, your almost free german telephone support is OUTSTANDING, your
free world clock is cool, powertoys are free and AWESOME, sad you dont even upload
the old ones which are still legally available elsewhere and cool though, many more
free boot utilities are ESSENTIAL and not used by whiners although they are free,
AND THANKS ALL OVER for supporting, Stardock and 3 subcompanies of theirs.

Your longhorn and IE 7.0 is too late, dont worry, Firefox sucks and came too late as
well, better browser already existed free for a long time, still SP 2 did add things
to IE 6.0 no other browser have, yet most browsers are better than firefox and yours

And, when you get around to it, go jump in the lake for trying to control peoples
most intimate core of their private life even worse than SP2s BS elements already are
doing,

IN LONGHORN, where you also ruined XPs functionality of its frame, even if it looks nicer,
were better at customizing that anyway, other OSes were so much better for customizing
so much before LONGHORN and WINDOW 3.11!, that you missed that train for good. Try to
catch up with russian and german animated keyboards and additional second keyboard
flashing at night with 100 programmable keys for you favorites only and a PRIMARY subhub
for hooking up a 3d keyboard even to a laptop, if your OUTSTANDING hardware excepting mice
is not to be dated soon!
and having items in your license read.me violating german laws plus shady
things like you can not go back to old versions youve paid for legally even if you
have also paid for the new version and dislike it. Keep on loosing law suites run by
24 European countries, you still get richer than you deserve to be, although you do
deserve to be rich. You do not deserve to be able to make other beginners so poor and
so prosecuted, and go play with the blender for making your office suite so overpriced
you luckily helped other people instead by doing that.

Hey, Citizen SATYROBE, the topic was to express a single 25 word statement, not a Windows version of War and Peace.

Oops! You are right. Now I do not seem to be able to cut it down anymore. Also should
thank microsoft for enabling me to whine at all. Deleting of that blogs also down and might cause
dead links, probably a safety measure that is good.

Rewrite explorer.exe. The new shell should utilize only SVG graphics, and be 3rd-party highly-configurable.

Or at least make Explorer more stable. And from reading interviews, the do realize that's a weakness and are addressing it.

Mr. Gates, please make multitasking finer-grained and more responsive. There is NO JUSTIFICATION for my having a 3 GHZ computer, and I can't open notepad quickly if the machine is busy with other work. You know, like BeOS? (I borrowed a few words from other more brief requests.)

I would like it if Microsoft made it more easier to customize the looks of an OS with loads of functions and all...simple things too, like in 1 or 2 clicks renaming the text in the startbutton.. etc..

Tidy up those directories, please! Why can't the folder structure be as tidy and elegant as that of the Amiga? It's silly any other way.

Dear Bill: As if I will try Longhorn anytime soon? IE sucks; your pop-up blocker is a yawn. And let's stop all that advice, tool tips and oh-hum icons. Wouldn't hurt if you were a little more quicker on the draw when it comes to security updates (as if that matters to my own internet security system!) These good folks at WinCustomize do a much better job of design - pay them!

It seems like we are staying a bit from the original request guidelines, eh?
