2 Toolbar icons questions?

Monday, June 27, 2005 by Hapkido | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I noticed there are some skins that only display the default Win XP Toolbar icons even though I have the option: "If a skin has a Toolbar icon set defined use it, otherwise use the icon set selected below" checked. An example would be the recent "Dmn-Tweak-R2" skin, by Jay. Can someone tell my why this problem exists? and what I might do to correct it so the "selected" Toolbar icon set will display?

Another Toolbar icon question is in regard to "colouring". There is one skin in particular, "G-Pod", by Daniel Ezra Teti, where if you change the colour of the skin, the Toolbar icons remain the default "red". I've contacted the author and he claims that they should change. So, what can be done to force the icons to change colour?

THANKS!

Dmn-Tweak-R2 does not include toolbar icons, which is why you don't see them.  As for G-Pod, there is a checkbox in the My Toolbars section of your WindowBlinds settings labeled "Use the WindowBlinds coloring settings on these icons". You need to check that for custom coloring to be applied to them.

Mike,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

1) Yes, I realize that Dmn-Tweak-R2 doesn't have toolbar icons, but I was under the impression that if a skin didn't have its own toolbar icons and that option, which I mentioned above, was enabled then whatever set was "selected" from the list would be displayed?? If I'm not mistaken, I have quite a number of skins which don't have toolbar icons but the "selected" set is displayed just fine. What am I not understanding here? hahaha

2) Re: colouring toolbar icons, I "DO" have that option: "Use the WindowBlinds coloring settings on these icons" enabled. That's why I asked the question since evidently something isn't right somewhere. Is there something, perhaps in the coding of the skin that was inadvertently left undone that should have been enabled? If so, where in SkinStudio would I check and correct it if necessary?

THANKS AGAIN!

Aha, well, now the next person who replies won't make the same mistakes I did.

I have a theory on Dmn-Tweak-R2. It is possible that it does include toolbar icons, only they are the default XP icons. If you open the skin in SkinStudio, navigate to the Toolbar Icons section, and delete them from the skin, that should take care of that. Often an author will add the section to the skin, decide not to skin them, and leave the defaults in there.

I'm not sure what would prevent the G-Pod icons from being colored. I'm not aware of any settings within SkinStudio that would cause that.

Thanks Mike...... changed the Toolbar icons with another set I found and liked much better with your destructions.

As far as colouring the "G-Pod" Toolbar icons, I'll just have to learn to live with it unless/until someone checks that skin out and finds what is preventing them from being coloured with the rest of the skin.

Ngager.... if you're using the shareware version, the toolbar icons aren't going to work.
