Tom's Hardware has a full review of the next-generation nVidia GeForce card, the 7800 GTX.
nVidia claims that the 7800 GTX has been re-designed from the ground up. The GTX comes with 256MB of RAM, 24 pixel pipes, and 8 vertex shaders. With 302 million transistors, the 7800 is the most advanced GPU ever. Of course, bear in mind, ATI is about to launch their next-gen GPU shortly. So it'll be interesting to see how the two stack up.

Thats a 6800GT...LESS than $300.
The ultra you posted is one of the 512mb editions...(aka overkill)

This card will probably retail in the $500-$700 range.
I really don't understand why anybody would pay a price like that for a video card. Granted it's great for gaming, but man! get a console for crying out loud if your main purpose is gaming! LOL
Anyway, anything above $125 or so for a video card is just too much for me.

With the current price point of $600 I don’t see myself buying the card anytime soon. And SLI? Do I really want to spend $1200 when in a year the next generation will be out where you will have the performance of the current generation SLI system.
Here is a question is anybody here considering getting a Physics Processing Unit card? The next Unreal engine will support it.

Mick, this 7800GTX will only be the top of the line nvidia card until the R520 is released...I belive nvidia is saving the '7800 ultra' (not sure if that will be the name, but I suspect will have 32pipes) so it can compete directly with ATi's new card. Nvidia wouldnt let ATi beat them so easily...
