I wish you could help, but you are Canadian, and this is a bill for America. You do not have any United States Senators to send the message to. The petition part is over, and was a success by a landslide. Now it must pass the US Senate. Sorry. I really do appreciate your desire to help though. Thank you very much.

No offense Kona, but considering that man is suppose to be superior to all other beings on earth, I would have to say because of all the irresponsible and horrible things man has done to ourselves, the animals and this planet,not to mention the mismangement of our resourses, our supposed superior intelligence doesn't really matter. Apparently it takes something other than intelligence to do things right. Like a heart and soul, which seems most people do not give creedence to these days,and maybe never have. It is mankind's arrogance that has placed us so high, in the minds of some, surely not his actions. Therefore mankind is the lowest being on the totem pole. In the famous words of Ripley from the movie Aliens I must say on behalf of all animals "You don't see them ....... each other over for a percentage" If what we have done to this world, ourselves and the "lesser" inhabitants is what intelligence and nobility are, then I rather be a poor, dumb animal.

The cows, pigs and chickens are already being tortured so we can eat. Must we keep on adding more animals to the suffering? We are a disposable world. What is not needed anymore for work or gain is tossed aside, tortured, neglected, forgotten, or inhumanely killed that we may yet again get something out of it. I am sure God did not intend for us to do that no matter what is considered clean or unclean food. |

I can see where this is going. Nowhere. I believe I have thouroughly explained my thoughts on this matter, as I hope everyone else who posted here has. I am not into hair splitting. Whales are one of the smartest beings on earth. But, I don't give a crap what anything is. The methods of the killing of these creatures is wrong. This is not a debate on what animales are, but how they are abused. If this is all that has been taken from what has been written here, then I will bow out and let everyone argue over what an animal is. If anyone is interested in finding out how to stop the slaughter of horses, I will be happy to lead them in the right direction. That was the point of my thread to begin with. You all have the right to express your opinions as well as I do. But, while we debate what a paticular animal is, millions of animals around the world are being tortured, abused and killed. That is all I care about. While God gave us Dominion over all the animals, fish of the sea, and fowl of the air, Jesus said the most important thing is Love. We are not showing love when we mistreat ANYTHING. And I am sure that gluttoney, greed, slothliness, abuse and torture are not looked on with much favor by God no matter what is is happenening to.

...and yet, nothing can live without something else dieing. Expand you brain just a tad. You make sweeping generalizations with nothing to back them up. YOU said the difference was that whales are mammals. You. I agree that we need to manage the creation that the Lord gave us, but think a bit about what you eat. For anything to live, something must die. The same is true for a vegetarian or a carnivore. The problem lies in slaughtering to extinction, not what is slaughtered. How would you kill cattle for beef if it were up to you? How would you feed a couple billion chicken eaters? I am very opposed to causing any animal to suffer and would prefer a swift kill for all beasts. How would you do this? So many people think that slaughtering a cow with a hammer is inhumane, but it is very swift compared to bleeding. Is it their death or the method of death that upsets you, Cindi? And then I would like to ask you to come up with the best method of Euthenization to feed the masses.

Your opinion at this point is meaningless to me. And if I had to kill to survive, I would find something else to eat or starve. I find it hard enough to eat meat now without seeing the horrors that brought it to my plate. And every year I eat less and less meat. To see it alive first is not happening. Do you finally get it?
