Object Dock Startup Bugs

Monday, June 20, 2005 by 23munkeys | Discussion: ObjectDock

I have Object Dock set to start when windows starts. When it starts, the "My Dock's" window automatically opens. Sometimes, this doesnt happen, but instead Object Dock opens twice and all of the docks are duplicated. Anyone know a solution to this prob?

Ditto on the OD+ not working. I go to work and my desktop is fine. I lock it and go to work. Come home, unlock pc and my OD+ is buggy. One major item is when I setup a dock to show system tray icons, the dock does not even appear. Anyone else with something similar? I run XP Pro and am running DesktopX along with Windowblinds + other Stardock programs.

Well, found a work-around but no solution. Just stopped ObjectDock automatically loading on windows startup and then linked one of my extra keyboard buttons to start objectdock. Much easier to press that once after windows has loaded than to get rid of the dialogs on the screen or close the extra objectdock that is running. system tray seems to be working all of the time now too

I found what the problem is. I was experimenting the same problem. I had Windowblinds 4.5, Objectdock 1.05, and IconPackager 2.5. I saw that each program had an update(Windowblinds 4.51, Objectdock 1.11 and IconPackager 3.0), so I updated them. Objectdock stopped working. So I Uninstalled all of them and installed them one by one, first Windowblinds, then restarted my computer. Then I installed Objectdock, and restarted my computer. Objectdock 1.11 and Windowblinds 4.51 where working perfectly. Then I installed Iconpackager 3.0. Objectdock stopped working.I uninstalled Iconpackager, restarted the computer and Objectdock started functioning again.
I then installed Iconpackager 2.5, and Objectdock is working fine. So the culprit is Iconpackager 3.0.

Brenton Strachan: i'm not aware of this issue, but i'm glad you found a workaround for the time being. I'll check to see if there's anything I can find that could be allowing that kind of thing to happen. In the mean time if you want to keep having ObjectDock run at startup, try just copying a shortcut to it to the startup folders on the programs menu. Not sure if that'll bring back the original problem you were having, but its worth a shot.

As for people unable to load ObjectDock at all, check out some of the other threads regarding this topic, the source has been identified and information is available!

I just reformatted my PC and I started having a problem with ObjectDock not working properly. When I click on the icon to start ObjectDock...it places a small dock to the right of my screen...snd then nothing. I can't open it to configure it...the dock itself doesn't react. I uninstalled Iconpackager and still nothing. It also freezes my pc. I hope someone gets this fixed asap.

From the start menu select Run, then type:

regsvr32.exe /u "c:\program files\stardock\object desktop\iconpackager\iprepair.dll"

See if that works...

I just tried starting OD directly from the file folder and it said ODImg.dll not found...tga and png images cannot be used. And I hate to say it...but it seems as though all my problems started right after installing the newest IconPackager through SDC.

And as of now I don't have Iconpackager installed and I still have problems with OD.

I went into IconPackager Menu to Tools and unchecked the Repair Shell Icons. It took care of problems I was having also. Object
Dock is working great now, with the lastest IconPackager installed.

I believe that the problem is caused by IconPackage 3.00a.091 which was just released on 06/07/05. I was very happy with StarDock's work before that crash happened - it not merely crashing my ObjectDock, but also IconX & WinFX, as well as Norton SystemWorks! Since that day I have no luck as I don't have a older version of IconPackage.

I have to agree with you czeeric...ever since installing the new iconpackager I've had nothing but problems. I'm at the point now where I have nothing running...no windowblinds...no objectdock...nothing. I've reformatted my pc twice in the past 2 days trying to fix this problem.

Update! Since installing the newest version (1.2) of ObjectDock...it is working again!

Yup but it introdueced another one, which forced me to uninstall ObjectDock...
It's weird that when ObjectDock loads, taskbar with WinBlinds skin disappeared (transparent).
FYI. I have the following things running on my laptop:
WinBlinds 4.59[b].002
ThemeManager 2.22.032
IconPackage 3.00a.092
IconX 1.00c[b].002
WindowFX 2.20c.003
EnhancedDialog 0.89[b].002
ObjectDock 1.11.022 (was 1.20.023)

I tried to use SmartException for troubleshooting these days. However, it seems that it doesn't fulfill my expectation - it shoots no bugs!

Updates:
ObjectDock 1.20.023 hide the taskbar BY DEFAULT and OVERRIDES my OLD SETTINGS in 1.11.022. This perhaps the cause of the problem in my previous post.

Yea I just started feeling the wrath of IconPakager just today after I switced everything over to a bigger HD...

ObjectDock, CursorXP, Screensavers and WindowBlinds all malfunctioned on boot up...

I would go into (add or remove programs) and have to use repair to get them to work again...

Any solution for the duplicating docks at start up yet, OD has been doing this since I loaded it, and I'm about ready to go get Rocketdock.

I have: installed, uninstalled, searched for Objectdock + stardock deleted them all, Regedit, words containing objectdock, stardock. Removed all files including hidden system and settings files. Reinstalled, problem remains.
