System Tray Not Working??

Hello, i recently bought the ObjectDock Plus... And everything works fine. My mom really liked the program, so i installed ObjectDock Plus on her computer. I ran into problems trying to get the system trey to show on one of her docks, but it works fine for me. Is anyone else have this problem? For some reason, when ever i click the box to have the system tray show, it totaly ignors me. But it works just fine on my computer. She is running Windows XP just as i am... If anyone knows the deal, let me know. Thanks - -- Michael

Not sure what you are asking here.
1 - If you are talking about the system tray icon that ObjectDock Plus places there by default to offer a context menu (right-click icon) - it may be that a setting has changed the normal behavior. You could try the following:
- Save the current ObjectDock theme, and close ObjectDock.
- Open "My Computer" and go to "Tools > Folder Options > View tab", then select "Show hidden files and folders" and click "Apply".
- Now go to "C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder (where "C" is the letter drive, and "user name" is the name on account when logged in), then delete the "ObjectDockPlus" folder found there - this will clear the cache.
- Right-click the taskbar > select Properties > On the Taskbar tab, in the Notification area section, click the "Customize" button > click the "Restore Defaults" button > OK > Apply.
- Restart ObjectDock Plus - the default theme should start, and you should now see an ObjectDock icon in the system tray.
2 - If you are talking about creating a System Tray tab, you can "Right-click a tabbed dock > Tabs > Add new tab > Add systray tab", then set up your dock icons if you want high-quality images.
Note - be aware of this text in the "read-me" file in ObjectDock sub-directory - "The Stardock MCP (sdmcp.exe) must be running to use the tabbed Tray to display system tray items. It is included with this installer and as part of Stardock Central. If this is the first install of ObjectDock Plus, a reboot will be needed to start displaying most system tray icons."
Please leave some more information if this does not help, and some one is bound to have some useful information for you.

Have you tried unloading all programs > deleting all the caches > uninstalling > rebooting > deleting all sub-directories in "C:\Program Files\Stardock" that are concerned > Restore Defaults in Notification area (see my comment above in #1 procedures) > reinstall programs > test all programs with the default theme or a pre-packaged theme where possible?
BTW - make sure to save all the themes, skins, images, etc., that you want to a temporary folder before doing any of the above.
This is the first thing I would try.
Also see the "Note" portion above, though it may or may not be an issue for you. I have the "Stardock MCP" disabled because I do not use the Systray Dock feature in ObjectDock Plus, and it does not affect the ObjectDock icon (which I use extensively) or any of the DesktopX icons (which I had installed for a while, and the Widget Manager icon and DesktopX Builder icon always appeared and worked).

I had to make all folders " not hidden" and I've found that folder..what I found there was sdmcp but it didnt say .exe
I looked in all the properties and nothing was checked off as disabled.
Is this the correct file ? Im in the correct folder...so how do I put it in start up folder ? I never fiddle with start up folder ..its usually pretty empty.

Add a shortcut to sdmcp.exe there.

Followed the above directions...you were right on the mark with everything.
I now have my Sys Tray back....a few icons still won't show on the right click menu in Sys tray..but most are there now and at least I have more than just the seperator.
Thanks so much Wizop Koasati and Corky_O for leading me back to this thread...I don't know how all this got changed to begin with..I don't recall ever touching anything in this area.

Thanks for the advise on the fix. Like Fairyy~, I left for work with every thing showing and working.Came home after 10 hours and things were flaky. I even had to uninstall and reinstall Stardock Central because I was getting an error on opening.

Heres my System tray problem. I ahve the plus version. When I start I get a default Microsoft anti-spyware icon ,I change it to one I downloaded and it is fine. When I restart it again, It is back to default. How do I get it to stay as the icon I choose. Second, my Icons for Norton INternet Security say it it disabled, but when I close OD and check on the windows taskbar, it is enabled and working fine. How do I get OD to display the correct info. Also, how do I get it to display the correct icon for the current state of Norton, such as , attack blocked, or disabled, or whatever. I have downloaded them, but only the default version ever displays.

There's nothing you can do about the MS AntiSpyware icon. The problem is with that program, not OD+ (does the same with mine, and it's been discussed in the newsgroup)....
The Norton icon is a different matter....Systray icons that have multiple states are a problem with ObjectDock. The only thing you can do is use the "Show original icon in corner" setting, and this was disabled a few versions back for bug-hunting purposes. I don't know if this has been enabled in later versions (but I think not).

i have the same problem ((the systray is being ignored). i checked the box in stardock and all. ironically, i tried corky's solution with the "C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder but strangely i do not have any stardock folder there! worst, i checked in the common files/stardock folder, and i do not have any sdmcp.exe file! the only exe file i have is "tray server.exe" (i unhide the extensions, so i know it shows them all). i do have a mcpstub.dll file though...
please help?

See if you have a 'downloads' folder under your SDCentral install folder. Alternatively, look in your SDCentral settings under 'Advanced' and find where your downloads are being saved.
Look in there, and see if there's a SDCommon folder - I always seem to have a copy of SDMCP.EXE and MCPCore.dll in there. Copy those into C:\Program fIles\Common Files\Stardock.
Reboot & see if that helps.

I am loosing hope to see my system tray working. It simply shows nothing. It is empty in downloaded themes and in those created by me. I followed all hints that I have found on the forum. MCP notification is on, SDMCP.exe is running (shortcut placed in Startup folder) and still nothing.
Also Trash objects are not working - they simply show when the trash is full or empty, but clicking on them doesn't empty the trash.
Please, help.
