Taskbar vs Tabbed Docks
Is this town big enough for both?

Hi there -
A question I am sure has been asked before but I don't recall seeing the answer.
Is it possible to have a tabbed dock come to rest ON THE TOP EDGE of the tasbar? In other words to be able to see all of the open program icons in the taskbar without having the tabbed dock blocking them by resting in front of them, or having the taskbar blocking the tabbed dock?
To phrase it another way, does the tabbed dock have to rest against the bottom of the screen or can it be set to come to rest against the taskbar?
It just seems inefficient to me to have to place the tabbed dock at the top of the screen (potentially blocking command buttons for programs) and the taskbar at the screen bottom, or vice versa.

As long as it's not set as a drawer, a tabbed dock can be placed anywhere you want it............... in the middle of the screen if you wish.

I guess I should refine the question a little, but based on the comments I'm going to assum ethis can't be done.
What I would like to achieve is the tabbed dock resting just above the taskbar, and to have the tabbed dock minimize down to the tabs only when not in the process of selecting a program. That way, when at rest, you would see the taskbar with a series of tab names just above it.
From the comments above, it sounds as if the only way to place the dock above the taskbar is to turn off the drawer option, which defeats the minimizing I would want.
Am I right on this?

When you mouse over the docks slides all the way out and treats the edge of the taskbar as the edge of the screen. That is to say, the taskbar does not cover any of the icons once it slides out. As I reread your posts I am quite confident OD+ does exactly what you are asking.
I have suggested to Jeff (the lead dev on OD+) that he make it so the zoomer can 'float' above the taskbar and not cover/be covered by it as well. Can't be done yet, but I imagine in a future release the normal dock will be able to do that as well.

It should work the way you want it to SB... I've done it many times. The dock should just treat the taskbar as the edge of the screen.

It will do it....the drawback is that you cannot set your Taskbar to "Autohide"

That is exactly what I am trying to do, but I can find no combination of settings that makes it happen. For me, the tabs always end up aligning to the top of the screen, not the edge of the taskbar, so that if I click on the taskbar, the dock disappears behind the taskbar.
I wonder if this might be a consequence of using WindowBlinds? Is it possible that using a theme in WindowBlinds somehow eliminates the taskbar as an edge to align on?
In any case if you could tell me exactly which options you have selected (Dock settings -> show dock as drawer yes/no,always on top etc.) maybe I will be able to replicate it.
In case it matters, I am using Object Dock Plus 1.11.518u Plus, Build 518u, along with WindowBlinds 4.51 build 204.

My apologies to everyone out there. I stumbled across a solution today, and not surprisingly, it has nothing to do with OD+ per se.
I discovered that you need to have "Keep Taskbar on top of other windows" selected under Taskbar Properties.
Somewhere along the line I must have turned the function off. With this function restored all is well.
