Mac OS X 10.4 - more bling than bang?

We've pretty much concluded that the MacOS X OS is fantastic. And indeed, Tiger makes a great OS even greater. But what about people who had the previous version of MacOS X? Well..not so much.

I'm a Mac Mini user who has his Minilith hooked up to a Sharp Aquos display. Tiger fixes lots of display issues on the Mac Mini. The Apple discussion boards were filled with users who complained of overscan, excess jitter, etc. on LCD displays from many different manufacturers. It seems like a fix I would have gotten in a free Windows Update from Microsoft, but at least it is a fix.

VERY good article. I ended up getting Tiger with the purchase of a new Powerbook, so the price of the upgrade wasn't too much of a concern. Others in my department are more reluctant to purchase it, however (even on their incredible NIH-funded budgets). For the 10.3 crowd, Tiger doesn't offer a whole lot more in usability than they already can accomplish.
My advice: If you've already got a Mac with 10.3, don't fork over the money for Tiger unless you really want the newer features. If you're getting a new Mac with it installed, however, enjoy!
