help just downloaded enhanced version

Tuesday, May 17, 2005 by sweetkisses | Discussion: WindowBlinds

i just downloaded the enhanced version of windowblinds, my skins won't change and when i try try to change skin color it tells me i don't have the enhanced version.my scrollbars are skinned though. part of it works and part of it doesn't. my os is winxp sp2. i also have a download accelerator, don't know if that's part of the problem or not, but any help would be greatly appreciated. by the way free version worked just fine.

sweetkisses,

Did you uninstall the free version before installing the enhanced version?

If not, you might try the following:

- Unload WindowBlinds
- Deselect any options for customization softwares to run at start-up
- Return Windows to the default "Windows XP" theme via "Display Properties > Theme tab > themes list"
- Copy any skins you want to save from the WindowBlinds directory (usually found in "C:\Program Files\Stardock\WindowBlinds" folder - where "C" is the letter drive), to a temporary folder in say "My Documents".
- Uninstall WindowBlinds
- Reboot computer
- Delete the WindowBlinds folder found in the "C:\Program Files\Stardock" folder.
- Download a fresh copy of the enhanced version without download accelerator on if you have any doubts about current WindowBlinds installer file.
- Install WindowBlinds
- Reboot computer
- Copy or Move your saved skins to "C:\Program Files\Stardock\WindowBlinds" folder (where "C" is the letter drive).

That should do it.

Start customizing and have fun.

I hope this helps.

i tried every thing that you suggested. if i down load the set up file and save it to my desktop it tells me that it is not a valid win32 app. if i run it it tells me that windows cannot open the file and that it is a pf file. it puts it in my prefetch folder. if anyone has any other suggestions i would appreciate it i have have been trying to get this running since yesterday. thanx

Switch off the download accelerator would be my 1st option.

Most common reason for the "not a valid Win32 app" is an incomplete or corrupt installer file.

I would try to go here Link and download the zapper utility > double-click the file > use the "uninstall" tab to remove all trace of old WindowBlinds installation.

Download a fresh copy of WindowBlinds installer by right-clicking the download link > save as... > save to "My Documents".

Hopefully that will allow you to get a full copy of installer file.

Try running the installer file.

If this fails, I would e-mail Stardock Email and request help getting a complete copy of the program installer.

I hope this helps, and apologize if it does not.
