Yea, you have to attach the ".pdf" to the end of the URL while in the browser. For some reason when I posted it, the file extension was ignored as part of the total URL heh.. Sorry.

I think the teacher and the school are being insensitive. Imagine how they would feel if, (God forbid) his mom was killed in action tomorrow. I would have become angry and abusive too. Would it have hurt to have given him 5 more minutes or so? Especially as it was lunchtime.

Oh come on. They both appear to be military. They knew there was a way for him to receive the call.
Prior to explaining the call and seeing if they cut you slack? Oh do you just fly off the handle because what you want is more important?

Personally....In this case I don't give a damn what the school rules are...the kids mother is in Iraq putting her life on the line for a lie. He should be allowed to complete his call. Period. I don't think I would have acted any differently than the kid did. I think its absolutely pathetic to suspend him from school for this.

don't blame the kid who gets rude and abusive, let's all just pat self centered people on the back and make way for them.
did the school know who he was talking to when they asked him to stop?

he's the one who acted inappropriately and he's the only one to blame. anything else is just more bleeding heart rationalization
i think he should get another 2 weeks for causing all the media attention

What's the issue?
A brat is a brat...if his mother is in Iraq...so what? A lot of people's family members are there too....he's neither special, nor above the law.

Somewhere along the way, some kids and adults just haven't learned how to deal with situations. If had simply paused a moment and explained what was going on and asked if he could talk a bit longer or something, perhaps he would have been able to. Even if he wasn't allowed, he could have informed his mother that he couldn't talk right now. I know its difficult to reach loved ones due to the time difference, but I agree that rules aren't made to have exceptions. You make one exception you have to make more.
It sounds like the kids let a small situation escalate into something bigger than it needed to be.

What ever happend to detention though? Sure the kid is out of order, but I've never heard of suspentions for anything less than a fight. I can't say I wouldn't fly off the handle too though... I recently came home from Iraq and can relate to the situation. It's not easy to make a call out there to say the least.

I think if he played it cool instead of being a foul mouth brat, they might of left him get away with it. He just screwed it up for himself by coping a attitude.

I am a teacher and I got a student suspended for calling me names recently. The phone call isn't the reason for his suspension, but the irrespecful way he reacted.

Yeah... I missed the fact that it's a military school. He got exatly what was coming to him. They understood his situation better than a public school, and WOULD'VE been easy on him...
