Aquarium Backgrounds
The call is out
Thursday, May 5, 2005 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News
Stardock is working on a new Aquarium Desktop but we need a bunch of high quality aquarium backgrounds to include. We've looked around and have not had any success finding any (we need backgrounds that don't have any fish in them already for one thing).
So we're looking to the community to see what can be produced. If you'd like to take a crack at making good wallpapers that have an aquarium (or even underwater) background that you think would fit this project, let me know and send them. If we use them, we'll give you credit in the docs, a free copy of the program, along with a free copy of Object Desktop (or an extension to it).
My email address is [email protected].

It was fun originally but it's all been done before.

| OK - Maybe it's just me but don't you think this 'Aquarium' theme has had it's day? It was fun originally but it's all been done before. |
Aquarium 2 is 10x times better than Aquarium 1. Everything can be built and assembled dynamically. You can add and position a full set of plants, rocks, bubbles, etc. You can resize/rotate them. Finally you can add several kinds of fishes. Of course the composition is saved across reloads.
This aquarium is different from other ones in that it is "live" on your working desktop along with application windows. The other aquariums only exist as a screen savers, as far as I know.

| I'm assuming from the gef that you have a suggestion? |

The Aquarium theme can be made (somewhat) original.
Think alien, babble fish, mutant cephalopods, strange and alien backgrounds...

Could you give us a few rough concept sketches or something to better clarify?

Why don't you use (ask, buy negotiate) the wallpapers created by Ryan Bliss. I know he has made some Fishtank wallpapers. You have also used his work for the Natural Desktop.
For other members who love to see very good wallpapers (you have to buy a supscription, but it is worth the money): http://www.digitalblasphemy.com/
Greetz!!!
