New Download Stat on WinCustomize

Thursday, May 5, 2005 by T-Man | Discussion: WinCustomize News

For those stat fanatics who keep track of all their stats we have just added a new download stat.  The old system reported the total number of downloads, but actually that number really represented something closer to the total number of unique downloads.  We have now added a new stat that shows the Total Number of download attempts.  What does this mean?  If you download a skin more than once the download stat would generally only increment once.  The new stat counts both downloads so now you can see the actual number of times your skin was downloaded.

I thought the idea of incrementing by one on multiple downloads of the same skin was to prevent people from cheating the stats by downloading (lets say 100 times) the same skins. Unless the new system increments by one on the general view of the skin and the multiple downloads on the author's personal page.

The system is the same, we have tracked both numbers but have only displayed the unique download stat until now.  The rankings are still based off the unique total.  But now we are displaying an additional stat, the actual overall downloads.

To see the new stat, view the SkinPlant 2005 Suite.  Then click on the downloads number at the bottom of the skin listing.  The new stat is label "Total Downloads Overall", the old total  has been renamed to "Unique Total Downloads"

Why do you display the IP address for the last anonymous user?

The new download stats are nice, but the IntelliText is slowing down the site and really sucks!

I don't see any new stats. I see my normal dl counts and the grand total of those (Witch is always messed up and 2000 to 3000 dl counts behind my actual dl count) on the my skins page and nothing different on my stats page. Am I missing something?

My 'Stats' page on my personal site is showing 600 more downloads overall than the 'My Skins' page.
