Odd ShutdownDialogueBackground Issue

Saturday, April 9, 2005 by Ingui | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I'm kinda scratching my head and would appreciate any help with a small problem I am having. When I click "Start>Logoff" or "Start>Shutdown" , the dialogue window that appears has a strange sort of distortion, almost like a curved line above the buttons. The Background Image appears fine in SkinStudio, and even in Windows, for example when changing Blinds, the "Please Wait" dialogue pops up clean as a whistle, but LogOff and Shutdown have this "issue".

Here's a screen shot of 3 different skins, 3 side by side views of the normal "Please Wait" and the abnormal LogOff/Shutdown

Link

Anyone have any ideas. Thanks.

You might be having a graphics issue.

Maybe updating your driver, or changing the HyperPaint option?

Or making sure you aren't cooking the card itself.. ?

Wait, "cooking the card"? That would be a bad thing, right?

Just kiddingM eowy, but really, I never even considered that hideous scenario. I have the very latest driver for my card. It's an nVidia GeForce FX 520O w/128MB. Maybe I should get one of those PCI fans?

I have same card in 256MB. Maybe if you're OVERCLOCKING or the HyperPaint is set too high, that would change scenario.

You would only end up with a fried piece of Silicon if you were overclocking too much and using things that use the card without letting it cool down (the xp fade to black is hardware accelerated by the card). I would only siggest a fan whe overclocking, but that wouldnt solve the problem, it would just keep things cool. But, try leaving your PC off for a few hours and then see what happens with various things.

Thanks for the tips Meowy, but I am not overclocking and although I leave my PC on during the day, I do shut it down at night so it has plenty of time to cool down and it still appears. I have been checking, and the skins in the screenshot were all made by me. Those are 3 of the last 4 I have submitted and they are the only ones doing it. I've just tried on a whole bunch of other authors skins and some of my own older ones and clicked log-off. They are fine, even the couple that I am working on right now are ok. I dont get it.

There's probably a setting wrong in skinstudio, because ss doesnt configure 'please wait' somethings set wtrong.
