Free Windows Partition Manager?
I can't find a good one that's free

I found a few free ones, but they seem to not do what I need. Does anyone know of a good free one?

Thanks Nakor, I'll try it. Do you mean NTFS resize, or one of the linux links, and if so, which one did you use? Wonder why Google missed this..
I guess you'll know if I reply withing a few days with all of my data...
I am actually doing this so I can install Fedora Linux.

NTFS resize via the Linux partition managers, yes. Google missed it because of the question. The Google Oracle can be useful, but it really does need the right question.

My guess is no. You'll probably have to boot from a CD and then use it from the CD. Most Windows partition managers don't really "work in Windows" but some will let you queue up a series of changes to be made that it will execute the next time the system is rebooted. Hope you find what you need!!

Not without knowing what you're using. Search google for related things like resize partitions under linux.

Using (or going to be) FC3. I think I might end up using the intaller's utility that comes with Fedora.

With one of the mini-distributions linked, you can probably get away with downloading only some 100MB or so. Though I suppose just the first fedora CD would be required.

It happens that I will need to download Knoppix and used the QtParted from there. Advice from Linux expertos. 
Who would have guessed this would be so difficult.

If you boot Knoppix to the desktop, I believe you'll find it's going to mount the drives automatically. Which will stop the partitioning from working. unmount them first.
umount /mnt/*

What do you want it to do? I read this thread twice and still can't figure out what you were looking at doing with the software. Did you want to make a second partition for Linux? Or jsut mess with the windows partition?
If you wanted to do anything with the partitions. I would suggest "Partition Magic" that costs $70 for the current version. But it's worth the buy. I think it's one of the best piece of software to mess with partitions.
