For me it doesn't crash until I click a specific area on the messenger window (the play where you change your online status)

I also run messenger with Y tunnel. Y tunnel adds back some of the features the new messenger took away. Re: being able to resize messenger. That drove me crazy not to be able to resize it. Before I removed that newest version of messenger, I tried rolling back the windowblind to the new version before any updates 4.5
That made it so messenger didn't crash but was not skinned properly. It took on the color of the skin but the Top Headers and buttons looked like old XP . So installing the 6.0.0.1750 returned it to the proper skinned look. So I still blame messenger , not the blinds.

Did you make sure your emoticons were enabled ?
Check in Messenger>preferences>messages..under miscellaneous make sure enable emoticons is checked off..sometimes its not checked off after installing, i had that problem once also.

| go to compatibility, and put a check on disable visual styles and yahoo skins will work properly without crashing. |
~That may fix the crashing problem but it leaves messenger unskinned. All you get for skins is the 2 others that messenger came with...But if you dont care if messenger matches your window blind then this is fine.

I am using the latest version of Yahoo Messenger (6.0.0.1922).
No need to uninstall the program. Just go to the Per Application, add YPager.exe and set "Use specified skin" disabled. Then check "Ignore this application and do not skin it.".
Click apply changes.
