HELP!

My dad is pissed, over a VIDEO GAME

Friday, March 18, 2005 by KeithMacDonald | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I have a big problem. My dad like to play a game called Age of Mythology, but recently he tried to play it but it keeps saying "Initializiation Failed" after all the cinematics. It has only worked after a reinstall of AoM, and if it isn't working for him TODAY, I'm screwed, 'cause he won't let me get/use my software, like CorelDRAW and Photoshop. So anyways, after I reinstall it, it works fine ONCE, then when I reboot the computer it does it again. We've tried to use the Titans Expantion Pack, update it, everything, but it won't work. HELP ME SO I DON'T HAVE TO LOSE EVERYTHING I HOLD RECIOUS TO ME!! (Ok, ok, ok I'm known to exaggerate, but I will lose my rights & stuff on the comp, eg I have to always ask my dad before I can install anything, if he says yes it will be few and far between, so it will take forever to get all my OD stuff installed, and Photoshop, AND CorelDRAW, and and and...)(I'm also sure it's not my software causing the problem...)(Btw, AoM is the only software on my comp not working properly, other than a fail in Winamp once, about the same time my dad found he couldn't use AoM)(Currently, AoM is uninstalled)

HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Did you try a check/scan disk? There could be a bad sector. Keep in mind, anything is possible.

Also, did you try to do a google search or another search for your error with the game?

What OS are you using? If you're using any Windows , you can open Windows Explorer -> Right click on the Harddrive where the files are -> Properties -> Tools -> Error Checking (These maybe a little different between version but is the basic area)

Try to see if you can find someone else that had same problem and solved it by doing a web search. That's how I usually find solutions. Also you can try to website of the game and see if they have a forum or a FAQ with the solution.

Ok, When you run the checkdisk, check both boxes, it will probably ask you to reboot to complete the scan since it's using C right now. You will have to reboot and it should do the scan before windows start up.
