Unloading a desktop theme
How?

How do you unload a theme without shutting down DX? Seems like there should be a simple "click here" button to just do that, without shutting down DX entirely. Because, if you shut down DX entirely, then load it back up, it automatically loads your last theme, and you're back where you started. I spoze I can RTFM, but I was hoping for a quick answer here.

Go to Configure DesktopX, load the default theme, delete all objects, save theme as whatever you want.
DX is now loaded without any objects present.
If you want to clear the cache (which makes the current theme load with DX) open "My Documents"> go to "Tools>Folder Options>View tab">select "Show hidden files and folders", click "Apply".
Now go to "C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder (where "C" is the letter drive, and "user name" is the name on the account when you are logged in), and delete any "DesktopX" folders. Doing this forces DX to load the default theme.

I still think it is easier to just right click the icon and load a new, blank theme.

Thanks, all. But here's my problem. Maybe I just haven't adapted yet to DX3. I dunno. I sure would like it if I could just right click on the icon and load a blank theme. DX2.x seemed to have that capability, but DX3 does not. In fact, I cannot even figure out how to list the objects, or set preferences, other than language and start-up. How do you set a preference for DX to suppress desktop icons? How do you configure anything? I'm frustrated...............

Dabe, For the record, if anyone else has teh same question, did you switch to desktopX builder? Maybe by clicking the create button on the welcome widget?

Zubaz, that's exactly what I did. It's not very user-friendly finding this option. It amazes me that there isn't a way to supress desktop icons from the non-create menu. It's such a basic thing. Maybe, in Stardock's next upgrade.
Also, I found that unless I'm in the create mode, I do not have any property capabilities worth a damn. This is really kind of unfortunate, as it rendered some of my widgets and objects virtually unusable. Right clicking on the objects would only give me the option to remove the object. That's all. I don't really need objects on my desktop that cannot do what they were designed to do.
