ObjectDock vs. ObjectBar
Thursday, March 10, 2005 by einhandsegler | Discussion: ObjectDock
I'm just evaluating ObjecktDock And ObjectBar. How do they compare to each other? Isit possible to create all the features of the ObjectDock (eg. Flying Items, Visual Style, Tabbing)? Maybe there's already a bar who can do this.
It looks a liitle bit as if both products do nearly the same with some special functions and that's a little bit confusing.
I would like to buy one of them. I don't know which right now.
One special question to ObjectBar: Is it possible to define that any hidden bars are shown after 2 seconds or something like that? Every time I try to scroll up or down, the bar displays and that does not really help.

ObjectDock does have a delay slider specific for the Tabbed docks. For the other Icon based Docks you make, you can adjust speed "somewhat" on mouse over by setting "smoothness". I did not find a specific delay bar for the Icon bars. Maybe in a future patch?
And just in case you were wondering, 2 monitor support works very well. I have bars all over the place, and if I have one in a sensitive place like where scroll bars are, I can resize the bar, or temporarily reposition/float it. Also, you simply get used to where to "tiptoe" around the sweet spot.
All in all it's very versatile, and well worth the money.
haha and no I don't work for Stardock
