ObjectDock keeps turning itself into a drawer when dragging

Saturday, February 26, 2005 by El_Squiddo | Discussion: ObjectDock

This is a really annoying bug that happens 100% of the time, so it should be fixable. What happens is that if you drag an object dock (specifically I am dragging my tabbed dock) near the top edge of the screen, it will dock to the screen and then turn on "Dock as Drawer". I then have to manually go inside the properties and uncheck the drawer positioning.

The dock I am working with has the following settings
Tabbed Dock
Tabs below icons
Show dock as drawer Unchecked
Always on Top - Unchecked
Dont Show in tray or taskbar
Tabs always open on top when docked to edge : checked

Not sure if there's anything else you need for this.

Stardock, please look into this bug.

thank you

It's not really a bug, but yeah, it's aggravating for me too. But, there's a simpler solution than opening the Properties dialog when it docks to the screen edge.............. just right click the dock, or a tab, and select "Detach from edge"

Well, the problem is I WANT it attached to the edge - I just dont want it to be a drawer.

Im still holding firm that this is a bug - as nowhere does it say that just because you attach it to the edge, it automatically becomes a drawer. These are two distinct and separate functionalities.

This IS a bug I think as it is still happening - and 2 years later there does not appear to be any improvement. For some unspecified reason - not necessarily to do with moving the dock, it turns into a damn drawer!
I really really really wish they would fix it!

I wouldn't call it a bug either.  It's a design choice you don't agree with.  Big difference.

This is a good time to bring it up though as 1.6 is in beta status and your request may be seen by the dev.

Hi,

This is actually by design. I am however planning on putting a checkbox in the "misc option" dialog that has the ability to turn that ability (auto-docking/un-docking) off.

The same way I never could see the use of having tabs if you DON'T hide the dock. Then a normal dock or docks work better.
