keep windows from going behind OD?

I have ObjectDock+ and I was wondering if there's any way to keep my windows from showing up behind the OD when they're maximized. I want the bottom of my windows to stop right above top of the OD.

I have the same problem. I have OD+ running in XP Home SP2. Before i got OD plus, the od freeware worked fine when i maximize a window--it maximize but avoids the dock on the bottom of the screen. But now i got OD+, it maximize to the full screen like the dock is not there, i'm using FireFox and i have the iTune control at the bottom of the browser, i cant even access the buttons when i maximize it since OD gets in the way any ideas? Thanx

Have you tried setting the dock to Normal Z Ordering? I frankly don't know if this will work but you ask for ideas. Also, I assume you have your Taskbar hidden, was it set to autohide before you checked the "Hide Windows Taskbar" box in OD+ If not I would recommend turn off the autohide option, reboot with the taskbar NOT hidden, see if windows max to top of taskbar then check the Hide Windows Taskbar option in OD+. Just an idea.

After playing around with OD+, I think I finally figured out how to fix it. When OD+ runs, it automatically sets the taskbar to autohide and to allow windows to go behind it. So in order to fix that, click on the start button on OD+, then in the start menu, right click then go to properties - which should bring you to the taskbar options. Then just uncheck the autohide and check the "keep taskbar on top of other windows."

This is a severe Limitation in OD+ in my opinion. I wish i had known this before i purchased the product.

I couldn't agree more. This issue really bothers me a lot.

I do agree that the cause likely involves OD+ putting the taskbar on autohide before hiding it altogether. However, turning autohide back off, as eyezblinkin suggests, doesn't work for me. I'd like to find a way to stop the program from turning autohide on in the first place.

Okay, I got it to work. I missed "keep taskbar on top of other windows" last time. Also found out that the show/hide taskbar docklet doesn't change those taskbar settings, so doesn't cause the problem. Using it, however, is more of a pain than is just changing the taskbar settings each time.

There's got to be a way to stop OD+ from messing this up.

This could be solved if OD behaved like DragThing does on the Mac.

OD should respect it's place in the z-ordering unless a hotspot is touched when the entire OD program should be brought to the front - showing all the docks.

does ANYONE in the OD+ Dev team read this? This "Feature" (I call it a bug) is just plain annoying.

I actually had the same problem but I did what Citizen Czzz said and it worked.
In a nutshell -
Click on the start docklet - right click on the start menu - properties
- taskbar - and then uncheck "auto hide the taskbar" and check "always on top".

Now all the windows I load respect their size and do not block the objectdock.

Yes, that works for me, too, but it seems that I have change those settings everytime I start the computer. It's quite a pain.

Actually I just found that out as well...

I close ObjectDock, reload it, and it resets the settings again.
We need someone to write a small utility that changes those settings and will load on startup. Shouldn't be *that* difficult...

Anyone?

Are those of you who are losing their settings at start-up experiencing the issue if you save the theme after making all your settings?

That would include saving theme after using any Taskbar Properties, then clicking "Apply" procedures.

Note - each time you save the theme, it writes the current theme to "Cache" and this is what the OS and program looks at when the program is next loaded.

Trying to get as much info about issue to let any developers who might drop by know what has been tried.

That's a pretty good idea. I just tried it -- I fixed the taskbar settings, saved the theme, and rebooted. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

i tried what you said with windows taskbar settings. It didn't really wofk. the maximiezed windows didn't fill the whole screen, but they only stoped about halfway down the objectdock

Try minimizing/maximizing the window a couple of times. That will sometimes reset it
