Shortcut to Excel Document opens Excel, but not the document

Friday, February 11, 2005 by FlipperBizkut | Discussion: ObjectDock

Before I got the latest free version, a shortcut to an Excel document when clicked, would open up that document with Excel. Now that I have gotten version 1.1 installed, clicking the same icon opens Excel, but not the document within it. It is just a blank page. I tried recreating the shortcut to no avail. Any help?

Go to Start Menu>Control Panel>Folder Options. Click on the "File types" tab. Scroll through and make sure the file types you are opening are set to open with Excel.

How did you recreate it? I've just dragged my file shortcuts onto the dock & they open fine. If you did it manually (eg rightclick->add entry) then double check the paths to your file in case there's a typo or something...

I just left-clicked and dragged it up to the dock then released. It has always worked before. Funny thing is that .pdf's will open up just fine as will notepad .txt. files. I then tried a word document, and it will open up Word, but it will not load the document into it. It must be soemthing with Office 2003 files. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.

I only have Office 2k, maybe it's a Office 2003 thing?
