Backin up Docklets
Is it possible (must be)

Every now and then my computer crashes and when I restart it all of the docklets, which I've spent ages customizing, have disappeared. I then have to painstakingly set them up again. Is there any way of backing these up. I've tried copying the entire Stardock folder in program files and replacing the existing one when it goes wrong but that didn't seem to work. Is there anything in Application Data or the Registry or anywhere else which can be copied as a backup? The ntuser.dat file perhaps (I'm trying that next). Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

I regularly copy the files from that folder to a backup. Do you also receive the 'recovered from a recent crash' message. This seems to be pure baloney caused by an OD ill-behaved response when shutting down the PC.
I'm assuming that OD doesn't close it's files cleanly during a shutdown. The consequence is a) losing all tab-docks and
the layout of the ordinary dock becomes reversed.
Restoring the settings files gets the tabbed dock back.
This isn't even a new bug - I reported it to news:stardock.objectdock in April 2004 (Message-ID: [email protected]).

My computer shuts down faster than OD+ can save it's settings, so I always unload OD, before I shutdown. Never get any errors doing it that way. I should have mentioned that yesterday, but I was very distracted, and didn't even think of it.

Nice one, thanks for the help everyone. I'll get to backing that folder up and will shutdown objectdock before the OS. Should work
