Samurai Works Seeks Object Dock Authors

A Chance to Gain Far East Exposure

Samurai Works is Stardock's business partner in Japan and the Far East. Last year, they licensed WindowBlinds for localization for the Japanese market and created the Japanese site https://www.wincustomize.jp

They have now licensed Object Dock and are seeking the permission of skin authors to post your dock icons, docklets and backgrounds on their Japanese language site. They will be responsible for translating the descriptions and posting the skins; you need only grant permission. The Japanese market is a growing one and skinning technology has been warmly received. We feel that offers skinning artists a great way to gain additional exposure.

I only have a few OD icons, but I will let them know they are welcome to use them.

No problem, just sent permission to use any dock icons created by me.

Thanks for the heads-up.

This is just "another" wincustomize? I'm not sure I quite get this, they're asking permission to use them? Will the icons be listed as random stuff from the main site? Will it be under an account of ours? Do these two sites work together, or are they just sharing the same name?

Does that mean you at wc.com get automatic rights to their skins? The Japanese invented slick, minimal designs!

I received a thank you also.

I think it means the authors get some international exposure at the very least.

Pretty cool, eh?

So does this mean we can expect to see some cross-site skinning, like sharing IP? Are they willing to ask the same of their authors? Should we expext to see an influx of Japanese Skins here? If they are a partner, shouldn't we see some sort of return or reciprocal sharing of resources? (or however you put it)

Just Curious...
