Opera windows delayed by ObjectDock

Hope u can help as I LOVE both apps:
Recently bought OD+, not sure if same happened with OD as I upgraded so quickly:
When I open several Opera windows, if I change between them the top area appears instantly, but the web page area takes a full second to appear. This is the only app that gives this problem, and if I close OD+, then all is OK again.
Using latest XP, latest Opera, Latest OD+

It took me a little while to realize that it was OD that was causing the problem...
I use Opera 8 and the free download version of ObjectDock, and it has been doing the same thing. It's driving me insane. It's like having an ever-lasting seizure every time Opera tries to display some new object.
It's not just Opera's fault either--the same thing occurs in "Audacity", an audio editing program I use at work on occation. I'm not sure what the connection is, but I'd like to not drop Opera OR ObjectDock.
I've found that if I have no tabs open in an Opera window, Opera runs fine... (although this defeats the purpose of having the browser open
)

Any updates about what might fix this? my initial thought was bad support for the methods used by OD in my video card... I don't know though.

I don't use Opera but I do use Audacity with Object Dock Plus without any problem. This is reaching a little bit, but as I read this I wondered if this is the same type of video conflict discussed in another thread in this forum, "PowerDVD andOD+", sitting down at eleven days "Replied" date here.
Easy way to find out: Move any docks you have on the left side or the top over to the right side or the bottom, see if your problem goes away. If it does, then you can either leave the docks moved or try disabling the "magnification" feature which seems to get in the way sometimes. Also, I've had very poor luck with any docks wedged in the upper left corner of the display, i.e., "Position:Top / Alignment:Left" or "Position:Left / Alignment:Top".
Let me know if this does the trick.

Same thing as above: the page area takes a full second to appear when I switch from another application/window. It's objectdock (free) that cause it, because when I unload objectdock, it doesn't happen.
I don't know why, but it doesn't happen even when Opera window is in full screen mode, or when the Opera window is NOT hidden in any part by another one.
...And no, the position of the docks doesn't change this weird beahvior. I've a dock on left/center and one on bottom/center, without magnification.

I've noticed that if ObjectDock is loaded, it causes Opera to refresh the page when you switch from another application. If I set in Opera Tools/Preferences/Advanced/Browsing 'Loading:Redraw instantly' instead of 'Loading:Redraw after 1 second' the page appear faster.
But the switching cause a cpu overload (36%), because Opera redraws the page. If ObjectDock isn't loaded, when I switch to Opera from another application, the cpu remains nearly untouched (3%).
I've deactiveted 'Represent minimized windows by their screenshots' in ObjectDock preferences. It's the same, no changes.

Found a solution: in Opera 'Tools/Prefereces/Advanced/Browsing' deactivate 'Smooth Scrolling'

I'm not sure... I did have a similar problem with an old computer a while back. I wasn't using OD or anything, but smooth scrolling in Windows would kill the response time of the program.
I'd believe you about it fixing the problem... but I can't say that it makes a difference on my machine.
I found that putting the Dock at the top of the screen rather than the bottom solves the problem rather nicely. I would guess that it's because Opera isn't trying to redraw the top area of the screen very often and so it doesn't lock up like that.
I have to say, I don't really have a passion for the dock at the top of the screen, as it often obscures menus and toolbars in other programs. I guess I can live with it though, unless someone else finds some other way to fix the problem via Opera preferences.

Well I have one other thought and it's reaching again, but I'll throw it out here anyway. If you're using untabbed docks you might try switching them over to tabbed docks with the magnification off. The tabbed docks seem to be less demanding and intrusive than the untabbed. It might get you a dock on the bottom?

It might help to exclude OD from Anti-Virus software scanning. I did a while back, and OD got speedier, and it may be why I don't notice any problem with Opera. If you want to try this, be sure to exclude OD in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus

well, I don't have OD+, i've just been using OD. the only option i have is to use it untabbed. Oh well, though--the top isn't THAT bad, it's just not what i was used to
oh, and the anti-virus thing... i would set it to ignore a folder, but for some reason it won't let me edit anything to do with the configuration. it's probably because i'm here at work and they don't want me screwing with it
