My friend posted this link on his forum so I thought I would share here.

All I got to say is, that has to suck.

This is my fault. I just translated the page and tried to understand what the translation said. Whatever was wet around the lake froze when the tempatures dropped and the wind was blowing 110 km/h.

For Translation to English -> "http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=/language_tools&u=http://www.skyandsummit.com/Glacegeneve/index.html"

Edit:
It doesn't look like the link is going to work. If you copy the second link location and put it in the first links page, it will translate it. (If you understood that)

Who needs translation? The pictures speak for themselves! That is as bad as I have ever seen anything, and I lived 25 yrs in Northern Illinois on the Lake. Wow, what a nightmare

Translation:

Wind and ice in Geneva

Wednesday january 26 2005. The cold weather warning announced arrived on schedule.
Ice show garanteed on the shores of lake Leman where gusts of wind are reported at 110 km/h (65 mph)... I will let you guess the temperature.

Warning, some images may offend those who are sensitive to cold !

Man that's cold. Makes me want to go to the closet and dig out a coat, but with tommorrows high expected to be around 74 I guess I'll skip it.

Hmmm... Ice Party Poopers!!!!

From the Harbin Snow and Ice Festival (China)
(all that you see lit up in this photo is made of ice!!

An overview of the ice festival from atop the Great Wall of ice. It's like a Disney theme park, with multiple attractions and food hawkers and kids running around and people lined up for bathrooms. The only differences are that the temperature is about a hundred degrees colder than the typical Disney park, and all the structures are made out of ice rather than plastic - and slipping and falling here doesn't result in tremendous lawsuits.

(check out an entire ship made of ice with passengers on board!)

You're welcome, SD! They are cool, aren't they? A friend of mine sent them to me in an email and I found them and this small town to be quite fascinating. They create these incredible works every year and have artists from all over the world participate. Until recently I had never heard of this festival.

I wonder how long it would take to get the ice off of the cars and if the cars would be any good.

Sapporo, Japan, on the northern island of Hokkaido, has the same kind of festival, Donna.

Wow! Those are really nice too, Bill. Thanks! In the town where I work someone does a small ice sculpture in the center of town, usually an animal of sorts. Last year it was a unicorn. And I've seen pictures of them in New York and other places, but never this elaborate.

Art can come in a multitude of mediums, can't it?
