BootSkin on XP SP1

I have tried all three versions of bootskins availible for download, and they all make my system hang during boot. The first time I boot after applying a bootskin with each version it will display the new boot screen, then go to a blank screen a hang.I then have to press F8 during boot to select "Boot Windows with most recent settings that worked" to get back to windows and the normal boot screen. then if I try to install a boot screen after booting back into windows, it just won't display the new screen during boot. I get the confermation "boot screen applyed successfully" and everything. Running Windows XP Pro with service pack 1 (build 2600)
