WC Flood Controll ?

I have heard arguements lately about floods in the "newest" section.. (peoples skins being pushed off by mass uploads)... maybe WC should list the newest uploads by the Artist ..... for instance, I upload 5 things it will show the most recent and offer a link to a "my recent" skins page, which would show all that artists recent uploads (maybe up to a week old before their droped off the list). that way all who upload new stuff would have better chance of staying on the "newest" page instead of getting pushed off by a flood?

have clicked more at the bottom of the page it shows a whole sheet worth at a time

That an excellent idea HG. Nothing against boot skin creators, but there's nothing worse than have to filter through 15 new bootskins/icons when I come to see what's newly available ...

well i was thinking that it might make it more fair for all who upload if they could get a more even share of time in the "newest" section....

Definitely agree with that. I don't skin or upload anything, but it's gotta be frustrating if you do ...

I think on more sections, such as Misc. icons, we won't display them in the newest unless they're rated 4 stars or better.

I understand the need to keep the "newest" in check with the 4-stars or better rating on some categorys since only 10 items show there, but when you click on the more new skins link it really should show all the newest, because it's showing the last 100 uploaded skins. The reason I say this is because I submit ObjectDock backgrounds in a category that is currently under flood control because of the object/icon submissions and there ain't a whole lotta folks flooding the category with ObjectDock backgrounds. Also, since I'm a journeyman, they're automatically rated 3-stars...and if just one casual passerby hits one with a 1-star, that becomes the rating out of the blocks. Then it takes 8 ratings of 4-stars to get the skin to show up as a newest skin, providing that there are no other ratings happening, you will still probably never show up in the newest section. Just my feelings about it.

I think OD backgrounds should be in a seperate sub category. It's not fair to lump them in with OD icons.

There are considerably more than ten submissions a day across all categories, that makes featuring on the ten newest almost pot luck. The ten newest is just too small to be of use as it is. Restricting some categories to four stars and above has to be the way.

Hello HG! I myself would agree with you also. But, other then hunting around for all the new uploads, we could all find Doodle Bug, get permission for his turtle soup theme and then you can release your version "Turtle Soup". Thus giving everyone access to the most spectacular theme ever. Then! No one would have any need to bother with new uploads because they could all be star struck by thier new desktop.

I know, Im a dreamer. But hey, Im not giving up the hunt!

I think this is a good idea as well. I know i have been guilty of posting several things at once, and bumping people. I dont like doing that, as it looks like im a skin pig trying to take over a page, the thing is sometimes i finish several things at once and upload them at the same time.

I think a single newest from each skinner would make the page look better... OOOOORRRR

Maybe....

If there is more then 1 new submission from that person in a given category in a given day make a icon that shows the newest skin, with a special note like "MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS" or even a combined icon of the latest skins (is that even possible)?

To be honest some people on here could easliy flood a channel if they just go in and "update" their skins, and push EVERYONE off the first several pages.

Use the "Gallery" look for the main skins sections.. IE: look at the "Gallery TAB" and how it looks, i think that the main skins gallerys should look the same as that, imagine how many images you could look over at once, and then have the option at the top to change the view to "list" or "details" so you would start on the "Gallery" then be able to switch to the other layouts? Just an idea.

I too was a victim of flooding, and it is frustrating when your work is never even acknowledged in the newest zone even for just one hour. I too understand that large amounts of uploads will do that but maybe there could be tabs for each section or make it a scrollable frame inside the window. Just a thought.
