Aaaargh! Websense driving us crazy!!!

help me remove websense from my school computers

Tuesday, January 18, 2005 by Hydro311 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

OK, this is the problem, some kid installed a blocking prograam for some reasons on my school computers (im a teacher helper), and now the so called "Websense" is blocking any word like Political, sports, and other foolish and bizzare words. our school is in need, and we can't do anything until we remove it. and we dont check every student's account 'cause we have over 2,000 students in our school! plz help! how can i disable it? (and i want to know how to do it secretely, you know, just in case they will give a reward to anyone who can remove it, the school's like that. i wanna be promoted to something better than what i am now.

thanks ahead of time.

Don't 'do' anything...secretly or otherwise. It is not your role.  Leave solution/s to the School IT people....

This: http://ww2.websense.com/global/en/ looks like a program to keep YOU, the student, from looking at inappropriate sites. This sounds like a plea to figure out how to hack into your school's network. Did you see the recent thread about how MadPyro almost got in trouble for simply netsending with a command prompt over the school network? If there's certain sites that need to get off, I suggest you talk to the techies at your school or maybe a teacher or two. Removing the software or even attempting to is NOT a good idea at all.

Since WebSense is a filtering software primarily marketed to businesses, I doubt that it was installed by a student. And if you are really the Teachers' helper, why haven't you gone through them or the school system administrator?
Sounds more like the school put it on there to keep students (helpers and otherwise) from browsing sites they don't want visited. If it really was put on there by a student , then follow Jafo's advice, and leave it to the sys-admins.

tjesterb uses Jafo's "winky" for added emphasis
