Enhanced Dialog Beta

Object Desktop starts 2005 with a bang!

Thursday, January 13, 2005 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

The first beta of Enhanced Dialogs is now available for Object Desktop users.  Enhanced File Dialogs seamlessly hook in to replace the standard Windows file dialogs. Now users can control which icons show up on the left, always have resizable dialogs, and they actually remember what view you last used (details, icons, etc.).

If you don't already have Object Desktop, definitely look at getting it.  It's a must-have utility suite for enhancing your Windows experience. www.objectdesktop.com.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about what should be in the next version of WindowBlinds. Ok, maybe not a lot, but I have one idea. It's the ability to change the shortcut buttons in the Save and Open dialog box in Windows, to shortcuts of your own. Example, "c:\myOwnFolder\here\". Of course you'd be able to change the icon.

That's a quote from an old thread I made with suggestions for WB 4.5 additions. I think they listened to me http://www2.wincustomize.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=144&AID=56244#0

I can't wait for some of the bugs to be worked out in this. It looks very promising.

Gallus: the sizing issues have been fixed.

To those having problems with their bluetooth please try the following and let me know what happens:

Can you please try going into the ED settings, and unselecting the Repair shell icons for loaded processes option. Then possibly try rebooting and see if that fixs the problem.

Developer bagginz

I've installed the last version and all started fine. Applications that I executed:

1) Metapad (not notepad)
2) Visual Basic 6 (VB6)
3) MacroRunner (Link)

The first problem occurred with VB6. I had that bigger dialog window.

I excluded VB6.

However, when I started MacroRunner I got the bigger dialog window again...

I'm not sure what will happen in my next PC restart but I will tell you...

Finally, one of the issues I have with Enhanced Dialogs is that it tends to shift the dialog window to the top of the screen. I used to use my Windows taskbar at the top and, sometimes, the dialog window was shifted behind the taskbar!

I moved my taskbar at the button again. Too many isues with Stardock applications (see the forum topic:
Link).

That's all!

The bigger dialog window still remains.

I run MacroRunner, Metapad and Windows' Notepad.

Only Notepad has a normal open/save dialog window.

Well for what it's worth, I am having the same issues with the .ico icons showing up in all my dialogues. I am currently using Orion - Onyx, and have tried the restart, and repair suggestions from earlier in the thread. I am also now noticing, although they may not be related, that the icons have disappeared from the left side of my SD Central app! (Although since I just downloaded an update to it last night, it MAY be from that.) I just thought it a very weird coincidence.

I am getting the enhanced Save dialogues though, just the first six icons (back, up, new folder, view menu, search and settings) have .ico icons.

I think you can exclude McAfee SC...
