k im lookin to get started making wallpapers..i never really made one before but it really interests me...i have experience in html (tho i doubt that will help anything) also if you could give me links to a free prgram and maybe a tutorial that would be great

thanx alot man ill try that...hopefully one day ill be good enough to post some wallpapers on here

Some magazines also occasionally include a free disc with them which contain things like early versions of Paint Shop Pro.
I got PSP 5 on a magazine disc about a year back, which I used for a while. It's a good start. But you can also do a Google search for "free graphic's programs" (or similar) and find one you like.
Look through some of the threads here, also ...I've seen a few links to some pretty good apps. Once you find a graphic's proggy you like, do another Google for (program name) tutorials ...you should get some pretty decent tute's
