Wincustomize User Page Focus: Hippy

Monday, December 27, 2004 by joeKnowledge | Discussion: Community

Hippy is one of the greats of the skinning world. If you look at his skinning achievements you can see that he has done some great work. Take a look at the old school stuff like Futurist Yellow:
Futurist Yellow Icon Set

Very nice. It even has a cursor set included with the icons.

But lets not forget the new stuff that had been coming out from Hippy like:

Then there is Skintendo; a WindowBlinds skin. A skin that you just have to see for yourself. Not only that, it has all of these nice wallpapers made by Hippy that just go great with the WindowBlinds skin. Hippy has, actually, a few wallpapers that goes with his skins for WindowBlinds.

Hey, don't forget that Hippy is also one of those guys at He joined up with MikeB314 (the other Skinplant guy). They got some skins you might want to take a look at on the site to... EXCLUSIVE!!!!

So enjoy Hippy's wonderful user site. He might blog there once in a while, or upload a skin... maybe an update to on of the oldies...hmmmmm??? (Hidden request for a new update for a WindowBlinds skin... any one will do... as long as its old school ).

This story wasn't supposed to be this long and actually is longer. At the link you can read more about Skintendo and some nice matching cartoon/anime wallpapers to go with it.

Until the next WinCustomize User Page Focus, I'm joeknowledge/joetheblow

hippy is great at skinning, indeed. his skins are unique in many ways and the quality is ALWAYS top notch. the thing i admire and appreciate most about hippy is his wit. he is definitely one of the funniest people around. just don't mess with his kilt

He is good at skinning and all but creating a thread to "praise" him I think is a little unnecessary. You don't need to honor him, I'm sure his ego is big enough as it is.

well, honestly, even you can find yourself as a WinCustomize User Page Focus, is you have a user page on wincustomize.

I say that to mean that its not a praise thread, its one of many articles focusing on user pages on Wincustomize.

One on the way is on SS Goku and he might not be considered by some as a 'skinner' but he has some very nice screenshot and has added to the community of skinning everywhere... and he has a user page...

Others are Xav, essorant, Snowman, Netbadger, IR Brainiac...
Just look here:

If you have one, and done something (those guys who do something go first) or maybe even not have done anything (I'll mix them in there somewhere), or maybe done a little, you just might get a spotlight on your user page.

Mark is one of the main reasons why I ever even started making skins.
I remember the time back in the old days when skinning were still young, even then were his skins innovative and creative, which a lot of todays artists could learn something from!!

(admin hat off)
And to Steve: I dont think you should "blame" others for having a big ego, you disrespectfull twit.
If anyone deserves to be 'praised' is sure as heck is Mark!

Now if something will make his head swollen, it is the post on eSource Magazine about his Skintendo skin for WindowBlinds.

I love that skin!!!!

Hippy, let me know when you got a strangle-hold on the Mac community. Don't forget the 853 previews and 7 betas before you release a theme, though.

To Steve, my better judgement is telling me not to even address you, but I can't help it. I hereby deem you "fly", a pestering insect just waiting to be flicked. Congratulations!

Steve, you say "his ego is big enough as it is." Uh, I've never got that impression, and I know that I have talked with Hippy more than you have. Furthermore, if you had been paying attention (I know... the pot interferes with your memory, so write this down for future reference), joeKnowledge had stated earlier that he was planning to do these sort of articles.

Steve: Although I dont know hippie very well whenever he has made a comment to me he has always been respectful. and always seems to appreciate a comment about his work. Doesnt soundlike a person with a big ego to me, although I dont know him I must say I hold high regards for him as a skinner, maybe the best.

One addition to the article - vf aka VoodooFreak aka Voo aka Ian Black is a part of SkinPlant as well. Checkout his personal page on Wincustomize as well: Link

The concept of Hilighting various selected contributors to the community is a good one.

Mark is a particularly suitable 'target', having been around long before the advent of 'skinning' as an entity existed long before but not all thal long before Hippy...

Those who find this lauding somehow unsuitable should re-evaluate their motivations and goals.

great stuff hippy ...... i think someone is in dire need of his weekly "attention" fix....steve its bad enough to drive your own thread in to the crapper ..but then to come here and start raining on hippys parade.
thats just pathetic.....

Hippy/Mark is up there with Treetog and co. in my books. I'm always impressed with what he produces and with the way he handles himself. Great article. Thanks for writing it.

Good idea this, and an excellent first choice. Hippy is one of the most highly respected members of the community and deserves all the praise he gets

Do you think I care what any of you think of me? I have enough self-esteem not to care what you have to say about me. I will contiune making skins and themes and posting my thoughts. You disagree with me, thats great for you. I hope you get something out of making fun of me, because I certianly don't care.

I still stand by what I first said. I think this is a dumb idea for a thread and if people want to get noticed more, make something new, not a thread about yourself. In addition I never said I didn't like Hippy's skins. He is talented no doubt, but this is a dumb thread.

Thankfully Hippy is so well respected and loved here , any mindless derogatory nonesense spewed Hippy's way by infants in need of discipline , is immediately disregarded and discounted as the offal that such words are.
Hippy is a leader, an artist and a friend. I enjoy hearing about him and adding to the words of praise.

TasT must be honest...

I love Hippy's work but it have never found a home for long on my desktop. Most of it's a little flashy for me. However without People such a him innovating and bringing the game up to the next level everyones desktop would be like mine gray and stale......

As far as insignifigant punks intruding on a thread that they don't belong in, just ignore them. I understand what JoeK is trying to do and it's an excellent idea!

I didn't create the thread. But thank you for the insult.
