Need to pick brains...

Friday, December 3, 2004 by Lady Aarielle | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Every time I go to Hotmail my IE browser freezes.... I have sent the error report and there is no solution available. I have to close the IE with the task manager.... I have to go through this little ritual three to four times before it will work and it's very annoying. I can't find a patch for it either. This only happens at Hotmail.

I notice that many people around here are very PC savvy so I would like to pick your brains for a solution if possible....

Any suggestions?

I can only say it does the same for me in Windows. It works fine in MacOSX, and it works in Outlook Express. That might not help you much though.

Thanks for your reply, PixelPirate. We have the same problem..... mine also works with Outlook Express, etc.. It may not be a solution but at least I know that it's not something that I'm doing wrong or overlooking.

Hotmail is ok for me. Try opening hotmail in a new window to see if that makes a difference. What version of IE are you using? Could be causing a problem if you have some active X controls disabled,

You could try Firefox

I tried opening hotmail in a new window and it froze. It seems that it likes number three because it takes three consecutive tries to work. Hmmm, if the active X controls were disabled would it allow it to work at all... after several attemps?

il ask an obvious question...when was the last time you ran your disk maintance tools ? defragmentor and scan disk... these should be run to put hdd back in order...also try a spyware remover like adaware.. and then run a updated virus scanner.. the simplest solutions are normally over looked ..

HG_Eliminator-

The last time I defraged, etc.. was about a week ago. I also use SpywareGuard, SpyBlaster, and Spy Sweeper.... all are up to date and running. I tend to do these things about every week..... I'll go do it now and see if that helps.

Thanks..... I'll be back in a few...

HG_Eliminator-

Well, I tried it.... everything is fine. Only 12/spyware, 14/traces, and no virus, but it still freezes.
I appreciate the suggestions. Thanks.

Is this the only MSN site that causes the lock-up? [inquiring minds like to know]
Problem sounds related to security settings in your browser, and or, your pop-up blocker. Check and see that MSN is in your allowed domains in both places, clear all cookies, temp internet files, and history files. Go to MSN home page sign in with your Net. Passport and then try hotmail.

Well, I checked and MSN is in the allowed domains in both places, I also cleared cookies, etc.. I went to sign in with the Net Passport and it froze again.
Yes, this is the only MSN site where this occurs.

But, thank you for the suggestion.... I appreciate it.
